Hi all!
To start this golf trip, we did head south today, when we had the privilege of walking the fairways of the River Club Golf Course in Pawleys Island, a place we love to go because the staff there always knows very well how to treat its golfers and make us feel like real members for a day.
Weather conditions: full of sunshine, 26 degrees Celsius, really a perfect day for golf!
Although River Club is the name of the course, we could also call this course "Sand Club", because sand traps abound and you constantly have to be on your guards and find yourself in a bad situation.
About the design, variety is there, both on the front nine and on the back nine. Personally, we have a preference for the second nine, probably because the water hazards are easier to spot and because of the magnificent par 5 of almost 500 yards from the white markers (370 yards for ladies) finishing hole. Note that on many holes, those who like to use their raw power will be well served. But be careful: there are just as many holes that will require finesse and precision from you. And that’s what makes the challenge of this course super interesting, which we have no hesitation in recommending to anyone and which represents great value for the money!
Overall, really nothing to complain about in terms of the course conditions. The traps to which we referred previously are in excellent condition and the same is true of the fairways and tee boxes. As for the greens, they were OK for a first round, but perhaps a little bit inconsistent in terms of speed. It is true, however, that we played in the afternoon, which may have contributed to the situation.
Nothing surprising at this time of year, since we are in peak season. However, please note that no matter when in the calendar (we have played River Club several times since visiting Myrtle Beach), we have never been disappointed.

Thanks for a great detailed report.
PM tee times on a busy course can have the greens getting trampled around the holes.
If over seeded, they will be slower, compared to just the hybrid bermuda, that doesn't grow as fast.
