I am on the individual part of my spring MB trip.   I will post day to day,
then when I return home I will post my group trip report all at once.

Most of us are aware of the very cold winter and drought in MB.  It's been about 40 years since I was on
a March MB trip, but the bermuda growth right now is about like then.   Although back then in the 80's,
the overseed was a lot heavier.

Whispering Pines:
The 2025 renovation was mostly new greens, new fairways and bunker renovation.  They were to cut trees,
but it did not seem like many.  The new fairways were very thin, except #18 was overseeded, I guess for
looks from the road.    The greens are good, just slow and sticky.
Some tees were closed and sodded.  I don't know that wasn't done last summer or maybe it failed.
The 4 par 5's are very good.    The range is grass.  Get a token in the pro shop.

Oyster Bay:
Greens decent but slow.  Fairways thin.   Anywhere near the tree line is bare and rooty.
Cart paths are terrible.  The repaired parts 2 years ago are minimal amount of paths.
There are a bunch of fun holes.  Not many gators today and those were in the water, on a
nice sunny day.

TPC:
Overseeded, green, well maintained.    Rough also overseeded.
Greens good, still not at PGA Tour qualyfying speed, but the overseed is still growing.
GPS on carts. Range balls included.

True Blue:
This fairways + tees.   Greens kinda lumpy with more growth from old aeration holes.
They were sanding greens, which helped this.   They have a lot of fairway bermuda spots
in the greens to make them less true.  Green on #4 is more fairway bermuda than tifeagle.
It's not terrible, but it's wrong to have $50 municipal greens at a $200 course.
Carts have GPS. Range balls are included.    If you have a raincheck from a few years ago,
you will owe the difference between that value and the fee when booked.
Whispering Pines has better greens than TB right now.

KINGS NORTH:
Everything in good condition.   All grown in.
Fairways + tees have good overseed.  KN Greens are not overseeded, fast and firm due to new.
Renovated New greens are bigger with more undulations.
New tee colors, where tees behind the white look to be longer.
With bigger tees, white tees are playing longer than the past.
Practice putting greens on range side are overseeded.
Practice putting green between clubhouse and #18 green matches the KN greens.
KN has a more premium feel now.    It plays about the same, but the bunkers are more challenging.

Something new was a racoon on the tee of #4 looking in carts.  He hung out on the wood side of the path.

Thanks Art! Was wondering how the renovation at Whispering Pines turned out.  As always, your trip reports are the best.

Your update from the individual portion of the spring MB trip is much appreciated. It's interesting to hear how the cold winter and ongoing drought have set the bermuda growth back to levels not seen in decades. The comparison to the 1980s overseed patterns adds good context.Whispering Pines sounds like it's still shaking out the 2025 renovation, with thin fairways but solid par 5s and improved greens. Oyster Bay seems to be struggling the most with thin fairways, bare areas near trees, and poor cart paths, though the fun holes remain a highlight. TPC appears to be in the best shape overall with good overseed and maintenance.True Blue's lumpy greens with bermuda contamination are disappointing at that price point, especially compared to Whispering Pines right now. Kings North, on the other hand, delivered a premium experience with everything grown in nicely and more challenging bunkers. Looking forward to your full group trip report when you return home. Safe travels Art and keep the updates coming!

April 30 Tidewater:

There was a morning thunderstorm with rain in the morning, but I had a PM tee time.
It turned nice by the time I needed to leave for a PM tee time.
At the course, they had about a 1 hour delay, so I started about an hour late.
We still finished in sunlight, but later groups were finishing in the dark.
The first out PM was a group of 12, with a Caddy Girl with each foursome.
Play moved surprisingly on pace until the final 3 or 4 holes, but I could not see a reason.

Condition wise, everything was great at TW.   Greens were not overseeded, so had good speed.

May 1 - Legends Parkland

All good at Parkland.   Fairways soft, so must have been watering before the Thursday rain.
Greens good with good speed.  Greens have a lot of fairway grass spots invading, but not a factor right now,
since the greens were mowed close and possibly rolled.

The new par 3 is in progress. It's still mostly dirt, lots of mounds, a bunch of covered areas, that might be the greens that
have been contoured, can't really determine the holes yet.

New putting green looks to be on the range side of the clubhouse, but still dirt.

They finally got a new entrance road.

Do you care if I post a few of these Reviews on my work website, they would go on the Individual Course page on Myrtle Beach Golf Authority?
