Tuesday afternoon 1pm tee time (4some). 1st group out for the afternoon double teeing. started on 10. Staff/customers service was great. Bag drops guys very friendly, helpful. Pro shop employee checking us in was very pleasant and upbeat. Good driving range. they have a small chipping, bunker area. decent size putting green. I have played here a handful of times before and love the layout. However it has been a few years and this was by far the worst conditions i have ever seen this course in. They must have some kind of fungus or something infect the greens as 90% of them had significant dirt spots. Mostly on the perimeter where the fringe line is, but on some holes it seemed to be threatening the middle of the green. on a few fairways even saw the same sort of bareness occurring. hopefully it is something they can fix. not sure if the issue was the cause but the greens definitely did not seem to be cut. really slow compared to the other times i have played this course and slower than other area courses. they were a little more receptive then some of the other courses i have played recently. Pace of play was horrendous. 2 hours 50 min for first 9 holes. Then a we were following the last of the morning cross over tee times, they dropped of on 18 and we had no one in front of us and played in 2 hour 15 min. As we had an afternoon tee time only paid $80. I would have been upset, given the conditions, if we had played in the morning and paid $120. Like layout and what the conditions were in past rounds so will definitely give them some time to see if they can recoup the greens. come back in the fall.
Thanks @bri1164 for your input!
Long Bay is in my golf in mid May and from what you wrote, I hope the greens will be in better conditions!
Take care!
