@artmbgolf

Art, here in Ontario our Provincial Premier has closed the courses down once again as he did last spring, our PM has no say in the matter from how I read it, it is provincial jurisdiction.

Seriously , they closed the golf courses in Ontario? Hoping for you that it will not be for too long. So sad for the golfers living in Ontario.

Sadly yes, Premier Ford decided to close courses down again, May 20th is the reopening day, maybe sooner if the cases go back down.

At least you can play Denis. Here in Ontario we are the only place in North America where all the courses are closed due to Covid numbers which admittingly are very high right now here. All the medical experts say the courses should be open but when did the government ever listen to the medical experts?

OBBlues, sounds like the online petition had six figures of names in response to our course closings, maybe Ford will look at that and unlock his brain.  26M+ rounds of golf last year and not one Covid case.

@leftygar1 I'm hoping DF is waiting only a week to cave further after cancelling the playground and police restrictions. I see a lot of May 7 or 8 guesses online and there is an course in Tillsonberg I think it was that fully opened today with a full weekend tee sheet and last I read hadn't been visited by the police. Who knows but fingers crossed it will be soon. My course in Collingwood was supposed to open April 21 so I haven't even gotten a game in yet.

That's the Bridges Course in Tillsonberg, hopefully that will get other courses to open.  Just hope the police do stay away or it will be one expensive golf game, $750.00 fine if they choose to enforce it.

Our course here in Hamilton was open on the 23rd of March, got in a game before temps dropped and rains came on my golf days.  To bad as the course was in very good shape.

@OBBlues and @Leftygar1 : you don't know how sad I feel towards your own situation right now!

If Doug Ford would have some friends in his "surroundings" playing golf, you could be sure your golf courses would remain open for business.

Here in Quebec, some powerful men and women related to the golf industry did their lobby the appropriate way, even if the situation is still far from perfect!

Let's hope for you guys that a similar kind of lobby will raise their hands and put the appropriate pressure on your government!

@jbshepherds I biked around our course this week. It is in the best shape I have ever seen. I'll have to stop biking there because it's driving me crazy. Hopefully the government comes to its senses soon.

@obblues

In our paper today, it had an article about Ford and the possible reason for him closing the courses.  If true it is due to golfers having a mini tailgate and drinking some beer while doing the scorecards for betting purposes in the parking area.  All last year I never saw that once at any of the courses we play.  Also, another course in the Kitchener area is now taking Tee Times.

@leftygar1 I never saw that at the courses I played either. I think if more courses open up "illegally", the government will drag its heels more, afraid of being perceived as caving due to pressure.  I'm still hoping to be able to play golf "legally" by sometime next week. Fingers crossed.
