If you desire pizza, then Aroma's is my top rated pizza on the Grand Strand. Heading north on hwy 17 from Murrell's turn left onto 707 and go about 4 miles, they will be on the right. As a reference you'll pass TPC & Blackmoor on the left on 707.

Danny's NY Pizza on 707 in the Publix plaza is also superb. Haven't tried Aroma's yet, but it's always mentioned among locals along with Danny's and Uncle Mikey's as the best pizza places in the area. Specifically the one on 707 as you mentioned. There's also an Aroma's on 17 Bypass across from Lowe's, owned by the same people, but almost universally considered not as good as the one on 707.

Is Danny's NY Pizza somewhat new? Haven't heard of that one before, will try it next weekend. I concur that the Aromas on HWY 17 located next to Wicked Stick in the gas station is not as good as the one in Murrells/Socastee.

Their reviews on Google go back at least two years, so I guess it depends on what you mean by "fairly new".

I had Aromas from the one on 707 last night for the first time, and it was excellent. Very similar style to Danny's. Excellent wings and HUGE sandwiches as well. I like Danny's a little better, Mrs. Secondandgoal had a slight preference for Aromas, but we're in agreement that they're both a far better pie than most of the places we've had down here. I've only had a slice there, but Milardo's is the only place I've had that comes close to Danny's and Aromas. I have not had Uncle Mikey's, which a lot of people swear by as well.

I've never had New York Pizza.

Do you  fold it like they do in the Sopranos?

That seems so weird to fold food before you eat it.

Why do you fold it ?

How is New York Pizza different from regular thin crust pizza?

I think most pizza/sub shop places have NY style or close to it.

I think the strategy of folding a slice is to help keep the
sauce etc off your lips, which end up touching the bottom of
the crust, if you fold it.

NY style is the classic thin crust pizza, good "bubble" of crust with no sauce/cheese at the edge, red sauce, predominantly mozzarella cheese but possibly some others blended in. Sicilian style is similar, but slightly thicker crust.

The purpose of the fold is to keep the tip from drooping/flopping. If the pie is still hot enough and you don't fold, the cheese and toppings will slide right off onto your plate (or lap). Even if it's cooled enough that the cheese stays on, if it flops, you wind up with it all over your chin. For those of us with some hair on our chin, this does kick in the "flavor saver" effect of the beard, but it's still a mess 🙂

jw, growing up in new jersey, i never wondered why we folded slices to eat them. always thought it was innate, like breathing.

in college, i dated a lovely young woman from texas...until i saw her eat pizza with a knife and fork.
