Hi all!

Weather conditions: cloudy, 87 degrees Fahrenheit with three holes under the rain

When it comes to top-level golf in Myrtle Beach, it's safe to say that TPC Myrtle Beach ( https://www.facebook.com/TPCMyrtleBeach AND https://www.tpcmyrtlebeach.com/ ) is very high at the top of the list. And it is with enormous and ever-renewed pleasure that we played this course earlier today, a course which has already received visits from several legends of the golf world, such as Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Gary Player. Today, TPC Myrtle Beach is home to the golf school of Dustin Johnson, who is originally from the Myrtle Beach area!

First of all, besides the outstanding quality of this course, what we do love at TPC Myrtle Beach is the quality of service that each golfer receives right upon arrival and till the end of your round of golf. They made us feel like professional players, even if our scores are not necessarily at the same level!

As for conditions, really nothing to complain about, the course was in PERFECT condition. This is all the more true since the last qualifications took place just last Monday in connection with the Myrtle Beach Classic ( https://myrtlebeachclassic.com/ ) , which takes place from today until Sunday.

We love the design of this course and obstacles that present themselves to us in each of the 18 holes. Greens for their part were really fast (11,5 on the Stimpmeter) which makes it an even more interesting challenge.

If you are not a high golf ball hitter, you might have trouble staying on the greens and if there is an advice that we can give you, always aim for the front of those greens, no matter where the flags are.

Besides, we simply love the final five holes of the course, and even more the 18th, a par 5 with a breathtaking view of the club house.

In any case, in our own book, TPC is definitely in our Top 5 in Myrtle Beach and we would play that magnificient course on a regular basis for sure if we were "locals"!

TPC Myrtle Beach, a "must" if you've never played there and a "must" if you plan to go back!

Wow! Very professional video Denis! Pictures of the golf course are beautiful.TPC is a high premium golf course. The former home course of Dustin Johnson. I played there just one time, during a winter in MƁ.

Your "local" trips reports are just first class. I am sure many on this forum are very interested to read them. Keep golfing, and enjoy your luck to play with a 87F and sunshine almost each day.

I thought TPC would be the course the PGA would pick to play. but they went with The Dunes.

Maybe because Dustin Johnson is/ was affiliated with TPC ?

Does DJ still have a golf school there?

Great photos Denis. Nice job buddy

@jw11 I thought they'd go with TPC too, but the Dunes is definitely a better golf course, plus it has the location right at the beach.

I'm just not sure why the Dunes Club members agreed to it. I don't see how it benefits them -- it's not like they need to attract members, and having a regular PGA Tour event just shuts the course down for member play for several weeks (I know people who are members at a different club that hosts a Tour event, and most of the members hate it and would love to see the tournament move elsewhere).

I suppose there could have been political pressure to help attract an event to Myrtle Beach, though.

@jw11
The DJ golf school is still at TPC, but I don't know if it's still DJ.
It's a kids + golf benefit, so I don't see why they would stop it due
to LIV.

The Dunes was closer to tour condition when the tournament was
approved and it has more gallery and concession space.

The Dunes is building or recently completed a new building to
host events, so maybe they wanted $ for that.   The Dunes is
also better advertising for MB, being on the beach.

TPC would be good for the golf, but a lot of holes there can't
have gallery on one side and it's far to shuttle people if it had
to be from 28Th ST.

TPC back tees are 6950.    They do have room on most holes to
build a further back tee, as The Dunes did on some holes.

TPC was originally built with the SR Tour in mind, plus vacation
golfers.

I walk golf courses as much as possible (as I find I get more out of the game that way.)  I walked TPC MB in 12/2023 and it really gave me a full appreciation of what a nice (and challenging) golf course it is.
