What are some of the more laid back or relaxed courses that are in the area? I know there’s no way to avoid it all together but I feel like a lot of the courses want you to sprint through it.

Most of the MB courses are looking for a 4.5 hour pace and if the cart
has GPS, the ahead/behind is based on that.  You don't need to be a
fast or good golfer to play in 4.5 hours and often the pace is 5 hours
in the peak spring and fall seasons.    Most of the courses don't
ranger very hard.  If your group gets warned often, you are probably
behind.   You can always let others go through.

Sounds like you might want a less busy course.  Better odds of that
are the lower to mid courses, away from central MB and in the PM.
IE Crown Park, Diamond Back.   Col Charters is not popular, so it
might be uncrowded.

If you are teaching a new golfer, you might find the 9 hole
Wild Wing Hummingbird a not busy course.

If you are a package group, with high handicap or occasional
golfers, you could play easier courses IE Beachwood,
Crown Park, Sandpiper, MBN West,...

The premium courses are more likely to ranger more, especially
in the AM, where they need to finish on time to start the PM
double tee shift.   You never know which courses will have a
ranger doing their job well or no ranger.

Yeah I understand they’ve got to keep things moving along. We enjoyed the courses we played down there this trip but it just seems everything was a rush. Only one place in particular did we have any kind of issue and it was minimal just a customary “speed it up”. Some of it due to higher handicappers but some of it was on them. We reported to our tee time as scheduled, all 12 of us, and then they have us take a group photo and sell them individually, which we thought was cool but still slowed us down. Then the cart girl comes around to our group by hole 3-4. By hole 7-8 they’re coming around telling us to speed up. Anyway, no real major issues, I just felt like the whole trip was a blur.

Obviously this isn’t a shot at MB golf by any means because this is everywhere. We enjoyed our time down there and would go again. I wish courses in general were closer to 10 min start times.

The photographer putting the group 5-10 minutes behind to start is
a good point.

The Pearl + The Dunes have 10 minute tee times.
A lot of the courses are at 9 minutes, although a few premiums
(like BF) are at 8.

They'll ask you to speed it up if there is a gap between you and the group in front of you. The courses here, which are Resort Courses, they set up their tee sheets based on a player friendly 4.5 hour round. All of our Private facilities expect a 3.5 hour round of golf; many will come visit you at the 4 hour mark. None of the courses would willingly put a group out to play with the thought process of - We're going to take out time and be out there for 5 or 5.5 hours. That might work for a 4:00 twilight tee time where you don't care if you finish or not, but not for an 8:30-9:00 tee time in peak season with a full course.

I’ve always thought of Beachwood as a fairly relaxed course, very golfer friendly, which is why I like to make it our first course when we come down for the winter.

There's always pace of play expectations of course but try Crown Park and Shaftbury Glen for a more relaxed attitude.

Diamondback too,but some people say it's a tight course . I didn't think so though
