I’m feeling a bit concerned about the future of our forum. Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a decline in activity—fewer new discussions, fewer contributions from regular members, and an overall drop in engagement. Am I the only one noticing this trend?

Of course, this could just be a temporary lull. Perhaps we’ll see a resurgence in activity as spring arrives. March, April, and May are typically busy months on the courses in Myrtle Beach and beyond. Could this lead to a renewed presence on the forum?

That said, I also wonder if this slowdown might indicate a deeper issue. Are we lacking engaging topics to spark conversations? How can we bring back the forum’s former energy?

I agree that the forums have been very slow lately.  I still enjoy reading the posts.  I have not been able to play anywhere for two years but I still plan trips for my group without me so info on the courses and places to eat are still vital for me.

Maybe an email blast to members that suggests turning on their golfing friends to the site would stimulate more members and more input.

I hear you! The forum has been quieter, but it’s great to know you still find the posts valuable. It’s impressive that you’re still organizing trips for your group—that’s dedication!

If the forum administrator agree, an email blast could be a great idea. Getting more people involved could definitely help bring in fresh perspectives and keep discussions lively.

I am afraid that we have had a lot of SR golfers retire their trips,
while not
getting many new members.    Younger generations than
us seem to be more into
searching the internet for info instead of
relying on reports from experienced MB golfers in a forum.

Blasting email news messages to all should help wake some up.

Brian Noblin started this forum more than twenty years ago. The objectives were to promote golf in Myrtle Beach and attract new clients to his business. Can we say that these objectives have been accomplished? Myrtle Beach is now recognized as a golf destination. As for the second objective, it's hard to say—only he can answer that. However, whenever Brian takes the time to post information on MBGT, it's always interesting. I regret that we can't read him more often because his insights are always very useful for group leaders and all golfers.

Younger generations search for information differently. They want it quickly. For them, reading a detailed trip report is probably too long. I would be curious to know how many of them are members of MBGT. How can we attract them to MBGT?

I always recommend using this website to anyone that asks me for MB info when they are planning a trip. I always give Brian's contact info also to get up to date info & pricing. I've passed on the website link to the members at my club & my winter hockey group, especially the younger group.

Yeah, I guess I am one of those guys.  I have not posted for quite a long time and didn't even do a trip report last year.  I still check the site daily and have seen the decline in activity.  I have a discussion that will be in a separate post.  It will at least attempt to explain my absence.

Interesting topic this one...

If there is a decline in traffic in this forum, the problem may be on the side of the lack of "relief" among slightly younger golfers.

Because, let's face it, this magnificent virtual platform has been, over the last four or five years, supported by a small core of members, the vast majority of whom are extremely devoted and helpful and there may be a way to do a little better (and I include myself in the lot)!

There are also some among us who can also be found on a Facebook page dedicated to golf in Myrtle Beach, a Facebook page that generates considerably more traffic than this forum, except that the quality, as well as the tone of the exchanges, do not equal what is happening here...

In any event, with the high season beginning, let's hope for a resurgence of discussions here!

Also, I promise to do my part to keep this forum THE place to talk about golf in Myrtle Beach, with the quality people that we normally find here (I'll be in Myrtle Beach later this spring)!

Looking forward to it!

Great insights! It’s true that forums like this rely on the dedication of core members, including you Denis, and the quality of discussions here has always been a standout feature. Social media, like Facebook, may generate more traffic, but nothing beats the depth and camaraderie of a well-maintained forum like this one.

Hopefully, with the high season kicking off, we’ll see more engagement and new voices joining the conversation. And it’s great to hear that you’re committed to keeping this space active—looking forward to your contributions and your trip to Myrtle Beach this spring!

Let’s keep this forum the go-to place for golf discussions in the area!

I have to admit I have been lacking in coming to the forum. Things have gotten nuts at home. I now have two girls in college, one plays in marching band and we go see her at games and when they play events. My other is a golfer in college, we go see her play as much as we can based on travel. Then throw in my youngest, she is playing a TON of soccer. I am with her 4 nights a week training and 1 to 2 playing. Now she is at age she is at Showcase tournaments for college coaches to see her, this is only getting worse. She will  be playing High school next year along with everything else.

We still go to MB and still use Brian. I email him as much as I can to keep in touch. I also need to make time to be on here reading and contributing. I might also implore my golfing child to join and give her opinion.

Sounds like you’ve got a full plate, but in the best way possible! That’s awesome that you’re able to support all your kids in their passions—between marching band, college golf, and soccer showcases, you’ve got a packed (and exciting) schedule.

Glad to hear you’re still making time for MB and keeping in touch with Brian.
