Played there today. Went out as a single.  There was hardly anybody there, just a few groups. Had never played there before today. I really liked it. Dye design but it seemed a lot different that Prestwick.  It looks narrow but, there is more room there than you think. Course was a little wet which is understandable with the rain in recent days. But, nothing bad. Greens were good and rolled smooth. Bunkers and wast areas are a little rough. They had a sign that you can ground club in all bunkers and waste areas. I don't if that is normal for there or if that is a result of the virus rules. rough on the mounding was a little high and scraggly looking. Maybe that is the look they go for there.

All in all I really liked it. Glad I played there. It is at the back of Barefoot with its own club house. Very remote kind of feeling there even though there a few houses at Hwy 31 is running along the back.

Top notch place.

Thanks for the update. Played Norman 2 weeks back with 2 guys who had played Dye the previous day and they had mentioned that the greens were struggling a bit there on Dye. So glad to hear they are back rolling nice. Agree with your comment about a lot more room than meets the eye, so true. If you know the lines off the tee it is quite fair but when you miss you tend to pay for it. Waste areas are always that way and meant to be played as hazards and not bunkers, often it's easier to chip out then blast it. I'll be back down in another week or 2 and was contemplating Dye or Love, may be leaning with Dye now !

If BF Dye is declaring regular bunkers as waste areas, that is just
this course's local rule.    It is OK to ground your club in a waste area.

I think they would almost have to. No rakes and the bunkers were hard packed sand and not well groomed.  I have played a few courses this year that had that local rule with the virus situation. No rakes, ground club. A couple of them early on had initiated free drops, no nearer the hole. You can play it out of the bunker or drop, no penalty. That was back this spring.

I figure that BF Dye and the other courses will rake the bunkers and even
the waste areas, when hosting a tournament, big outing, significant
members outing and more often during peak season, when collecting the
big package $$$.
