Hi all!
On this Friday, April 25th, under a blue sky with a magnificent 81 degrees, what chance we had to play one of the most fantastic designs of all the Myrtle Beach area! We’re talking of course about Oyster Bay Golf Links, a golf course which many Quebecers love to play.
Hearty breakfast, lunch equally hearty and two beers offered “on the arm” for those visiting Oyster Bay Golf Links and all to other courses of the Legends Golf & Resort group, an offer that has existed for some years now. Hard to say no to this kind of promotion, don’t you think?
At the outset, it is worth mentioning that over the past few years, this course has lacked a little love, but we can now say that Oyster Bay is back on track in terms of quality and playing conditions!
In this regard, we were pleasantly surprised by the conditions. Tees, fairways, sand traps, as well as the greens, everything was more than adequate during our visit. Speaking of the greens, they were relatively fast, even though we played in the afternoon. There were maybe three or four of them where we found a tiny bit of poa annua, but nothing significant to affect our putts.
This course is a par 70 and plays 5,576 yards from the white tees and 4,665 yards from the ladies. It may look a bit short, but rest assured that in certain situations, it often plays a bit longer than you might expect. See scorecard at https://legendsgolf.com/cdn/legends/1623351912425-OysterBayScorecards.pdf.
For those considering a visit in the not-too-distant future, we're pretty sure the overall conditions will improve. This was our eighth visit there, and it certainly won't be our last.
Just a little suggestion to finish: if you decide to add Oyster Bay Golf Links to your agenda, try to plan well in advance and insist on ideally starting your round on hole #1, because holes #10 and #11 are quite "brutal"! On the other hand, the sequence of holes #13 to #17 inclusively is truly spectacular, while being very challenging!
But for the rest, Oyster Bay Golf Links is a wonderful track, even if this time, large alligators were not there!
Next round on Sunday April 27 at Man O’ War!

Unfortunately not playing The Pearl this trip, even if reviews seem to be outstanding!
But Sea Trail Byrd is in my golf agenda somewhere during the next two weeks!

Look for my update post. I do not recommend ST Byrd at this time.
