Hi all!
On this Sunday, April 27th, the weather was very pleasant for golf with a mixture of sun and clouds and a nice 74 degrees, we headed to Man O'War, a Dan Maples course that opened in 1995 and whose name is inspired by... a legendary racehorse!
Although the fairways are relatively wide, Man O'War, which plays to 6,402 yards from the white tees and 5,033 yards for the ladies (see scorecard at https://www.mysticalgolf.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/manowarscorecard.pdf ) , is particularly notable for its lakes and ponds that run through it, making it a fairly interesting challenge, although it's not what you'd call the sexiest course in the greater Myrtle Beach area.
But regardless, the playing conditions, from the tees to the greens (including the sand traps) were as expected for this time of year, which is a peak season. In fact, there's clearly an effort to make each hole unique, but fear not, water remains a recurring theme.
Indeed, these bodies of water make some holes a bit intimidating and more often than not require great precision. We are thinking here, for example, of holes #13 and #17, which can be tricky. There are also a few par 4s where the driver must be left in your bag, otherwise, you will end up where you don't want to! Therefore, bring a few extra balls just in case!
All in all, Man O'War may not be often mentioned when planning your golf itinerary for a trip to Myrtle Beach, but we can assure you that it's a course you must experience at least once when visiting the golf Mecca!
Next round on Monday April 28 at Wedgefield!
