Back in MB to play golf again. Been coming here since 2020. Wife and I are staying near Barefoot Resort just off of Norman course hole #9. We are here until 12/1. I have 13 rounds planned. This will be a sort of live reporting as I wouldn't be able to remember everything.

Day 1

Course: Willbrook Plantation

Greens: Decent condition, no brown spots. Speed good

Fairways: A little wet at first, but dried out quickly

Rough: Decent but thin in spots

CPO: No

Beverage Cart: Yes

150 Yard Marker: Yes

People I played with: Good

Notes: One of my favorite courses, overall give it a B+

POP: 4.0 hours

Breakfast: Kitchen Table. Decent

Dinner:

Overall Day Rating: 8.5

Tomorrow: Prestwick

Thanks for reading.

Good trip Mike. I agree, Willbrook Plantation is a good course. Continue your reports, it will be fun to follow you.

Day 2

Course: Prestwick

Greens: Excellent condition, no brown spots. Speed very fast, around a 10

Fairways: A little wet, was taking deeper divots that normal

Rough: Excellent, difficult to find your ball at times.

CPO: No

Beverage Cart: Yes

150 Yard Marker: Yes

People I played with: Good

Notes: A difficult course for me. Fairly enjoyable. Tee boxes a little bit overgrown, but to be        expected due to over seeding. The gentlemen I was playing with, were hitting from the red tees. Some of these tee boxes were extremely long and shaggy

POP: 4.0 hours

Breakfast: Mama cooked, scrambled eggs in tortilla shells

Dinner: Portofino. Our current favorite Italian resto. Large portions

Overall Day Rating: 6.5 only due to my poor play

Tomorrow: Founders Club at Pawley's Island

Thanks for reading.

It's hard to score at Prestwick, even if hitting it good.

Prestwick is a Pete Dye course. Saying that, it means troubles. But the course has many nice holes. Which holes have you like the most..Thanks for the report.

10, 11 and 12 were my favorite, but I liked the back, better than the front

Day 3

Course: Founders Club at Pawleys Island

Greens: Decent, no brown spots, but blotchy green spots. Not super fast but not slow

Fairways: Good, not to wet, ball rolled out decent

Rough: Non existent. No difference between fairway and rough

CPO: No

Beverage Cart: Yes

150 Yard Marker: Yes

People I played with: Played as a single

Notes: Played as a single. Had a 9:02 tee time, but when I showed up at 8:35, they told me that they moved me up to about 8:45. Told me to get to the first tee ASAP as they wanted to send me off in front of a large group. I thanked them for this. Tee boxes a little bit overgrown, but to be expected due to over seeding, but were in only average condition.

POP: 3.5 hours. Front 9 in 1 hour. Played the first 6 holes without anybody in front of me. Thanks to double teeing, back nine to 2.5 hours. Don't you love double teeing.

Breakfast: Theo's. Just average, but the open around 6:30 am

Dinner: Thai In Town, take out. Our favorite Thai resto.

Overall Day Rating: 9.5 as the Mrs. rode along with me.

Tomorrow: Meadowlands as I head up north.

Thanks for reading.

Try Thia Lao .. that's one of my friends Mother In Law's place.  thnk she has Black Thia as well, I think, I forget the name of the other Thia restaurant she owns. It's real deal authentic food.

Day 4

Course: Meadowlands

Greens: Decent, painted. Not super fast but not slow

Fairways: Good, overseeding doing well

Rough: Good, but not nearly as good as it was in August

CPO: No

Beverage Cart: Yes

150 Yard Marker: Yes

People I played with: Played with a couple from Montreal and a single from Wilmington

Notes: Meadowlands is always crowded and slow. I put up with it as I enjoy the course and play well here. The people at the bag drop and starters are very nice, however the people inside the pro shop are real jerks. I went to check in, and got a lot of grief for having a rider. Told me they were full and may not have room. He told me that I should have said this when I made my tee time. I countered that I made the tee time 6 weeks ago and if he could have told me what the weather would have been, I could have told him weather I would have a rider or not. Turns out they had plenty of carts. Funny, the single that played along with me also had a rider and he gave him a hard time as well.

POP: 4:45, typical Meadowlands

Breakfast: Dino's. Pretty good.

Late Lunch/Early Dinner: Gravy Southern in Calabash. They have great daily specials, it is a locals place as we tend to be the only people in the place with an accent.

Overall Day Rating: 10 as the Mrs. rode along with me, and I played well. Also the people we were paired with were decent.

Tomorrow: Caledonia

Meadowlands is busy, all year long. It is a very popular golf course.

However, I am wondering about the future of this course since Farmstead has been closed. The owners were in the same family. Are they planning to do whatever is necessary to keep the course as a ''must to play'' golf course, meaning with a good relationship in the clubhouse, very good conditions of play, and fair rates. Future will said us.

Day 5

Course: Caledonia

Greens: Very Good, no brown spots. Not super fast but not slow

Fairways: Excellent, overseeding doing well

Rough: Excellent, maybe the best and longest so far

CPO: Yes, pain in the ass

Beverage Cart: Yes

150 Yard Marker: Yes, but had to be pointed out to me as it was disguised

People I played with: Played with a couple from Montreal and a single from South Carolina

Notes: Note anything that really stands out. Nicer course than Meadowlands but not crowded. There were double teeing but never caught up with any foursome ahead of us.

POP: 3:30 not bad for CPO

Breakfast: Theo's. Better this time

Dinner: King's pizza, take out. Just ok, crust was funky

Overall Day Rating: 9 as the Mrs. rode along with me, and I played just ok.

Tomorrow: no golf, but Blackmor on Friday

Thanks for reading.

Since ML had plenty of carts, the clubhouse must not know they
added more.   Did they charge for a rider?

Great pace at Cale with CPO.

Posts for 150 markers are good and still useful for shots that
don't need distance to the pin, like punch outs and layups.

Thanks for all of your reports.

ML has plenty of play, so should remain a course.   But we never know when a owner
gets a offer they can't refuse or is ready to retire.

I figure they sold the even more popular Farmstead because it was worth more or
had more land that was easier to develop.
