I got invited to head down with a group of members from my club, 12 of us headed down for the Legends package, 7 drove, 5 flew.

My foursome drove & did Arcadian Shores on arrival day, Sat Nov 16  with rain checks, fairways were so-so, but the greens were very good, speed was med-fast. Good day, weather was nice, good course to warm up on & saw only gator of the trip besides green #2.

Sunday: Heathland- a bit chilly to start the day, sun was out & warmed up quick. Every Legends course was in great shape & greens running quick. No issues anywhere, only 3 of our group had stayed & played the courses before, the other 9 were in golfers heaven when they got a full look at the facilities.  After our round, we got a 9 hole replay on Parkland.

Monday:  Heritage, again great conditions, sunny & warm, pace of play was good, greens running quick, especially from the high side.  one of our players is a 1 handicap, he was hitting good shots all day but ended up shooting 80, he was always on the high side putting & leaving himself 10-15 footers for par as the ball wouldn't stop.

Tues: Moorland:  fastest greens of the 3 on site courses, excellent conditions again, sunny & warm. Hole #2 is a beast of a par 5, you can't see where you are hitting the ball & there is trouble all over.  We did another 9 hole replay, this time on Heathland.

Wed:  Parkland , it had rained during the night, was cloudy & very high humidity at tee time...was an unusually warm morning. Broken record here but greens are excellent, course in great shape.  Legends package with the breakfast, lunch & 2 drinks is very hard to beat. Everyone seemed to have a different fave course for the week, split evenly between Heritage, Moorland  & Parkland....just Heathland didnt get as much love.

I'll add more info when I have time.  My group wants to return next year, see where they want to stay & play......

Stay tuned.

Thanks for the report. I've done several Legends trips and it's hard to beat for convenience, usually cost and variety of courses. Our group   enjoys Oyster Bay and Heritage as much as the onsite courses.

Part 2

I almost didn't make the trip, I had hurt my right knee 2 weeks before, partial ACL & Meniscus tear. I wore a full metal frame brace all week,  I was very tentative first 2 rounds, very careful walking down the on course slopes & stairs. ice pack every night when we returned to the condo. By the last day, I was comfortable enough to be able to take full swings. Surgeon consult on Dec 3 to see what repairs are going to be done.

We ate at Ailsa Pub for supper on arrival day after checking in at the condo,  usual pub fare, I find the Legends clubhouse kitchen is better.

We did the breakfast buffet every morning at the clubhouse & usually the a la carte lunch there also.

nite 2...Gino's pizza was a hit among the guys that had never tried it before, a few of our guys were former NYC construction workers & they all said the pizza was just like what they used to have there.

nite 3....My 4some wanted to hit 1 of the seafood buffet places, so they decided on Crabby George's by 79th Ave....I had the prime rib which was excellent, other 3 did the buffet & said it was average at best.

Last night we tried to get in Rioz,  but it was a 60+ minute wait so we decided to go to Angelos,  good call, steaks were excellent,  my NY strip had more flavor than the prime rib the night before.  We got there a bit late,  the Italian buffet was already shut down, but it wasnt busy so got served quickly & our food came out fast.  Always a must visit for me on a trip to MB

We started our drive home right after our last round, we were going to drive straight thru to Montreal area, 16 hrs or so, but hit the rain storm getting to Richmond, guy driving made it to the Quantico  area, said he needed a break or change drivers. We checked the weather radar, showed we would have to drive thru the heaviest stuff for 4 more hrs, so we decided to stop at 9pm & get a hotel & start fresh in the morning.  We were trying out a new route home that I had never tried, 495-270-70-81 ...... if we had left 1 hr earlier in the morning, we would have been golden but I got over ruled, guys wanted to get extra sleep & leave at 6am instead.....so we were in traffic for about 2 hrs. Rest of the drive was uneventful,  I prefer driving 81 home instead of 95-87 even though its a little longer,  usually way less traffic.

Hoping for a full recovery for you. I agree concerning the 81, no peage, safe road (avoiding the big cities). Thanks for your report, very appreciated.

Captain George's + Benjamins seem to get the best seafood buffet reviews.

While I have not been to Crabby George's, I think it's one of the newer
places and it appears to be twisting the names of Captain George's
and Crabby Mike's, which is or was popular.

Thanks for your good update.
