With some light rain that came through earlier today, the course was pretty dead.

Wife and I teed off around 11:45 and had the place to ourselves.

Overdeeded fairways were in great shape. Obviously wet and drives weren’t running but nice for hitting shots from.

Bunkers were in good shape for the wetness.

Dormant Bermuda rough was squishy but still relatively thick in some places especially around greens.

Greens were… interesting. I’ve played a ton of golf but don’t know how to tell if greens are overseeded. They were grainy and putts would skid for the first bit before rolling but that might have been due to the moisture. Although soft from the rain they didn’t hold shots like I thought they would.

Really the only issue today was the cart paths. Ugh! huge chunks missing and pot holes to make a New Yorker blush. Redoing them would cost a fortune that could better be used elsewhere on the course, so I don’t know what the solution would be.

Long story short I really like the layout and the holes were various and never got boring. Each one was a new challenge.

I hate that I never got the chance to play WoodStork or Falcon courses at WW.

My experience and those of the locals, Beachwood was always the go to course for drier conditions, good luck and you have had great weather for December.

Thanks for your report on Avocet, a good solid course.  Greens may not have been over seeded if you felt the ball skidded in spots, that's my rule of thumb, ball skids not over seeded, if the green have good color over seed is a yes.  Starters will tell you if you ask as well, they are very knowledgeable on the course and its conditions.  FYI, they were driving on the fairways at Arcadian Shores today after yesterdays rain.

Thanks for reporting once again @brattenj!

Played Wild Wing probably 5-6 times over the years and always enjoy my experience down there!

Take care and Happy New Year to you and those you love!

I've played WW at least a half dozen times and it was always in good shape.  It can play long so you need to pick the correct set of tees for your game.
