@brattenj : Being honest is priceless and I do appreciate the kind of feedback that you wrote!
It's and it will remain quite a challenge for the Myrtle Beach golf industry to cope with more and more other golf destinations.
But, personnally, I'll forever be a Myrtle Beach golf lover!
Take care!

The Myrtle Beach Golf Passport is available for Snowbirds from Nov. 1 until March 31st, you have a 54 hours booking window now. Also I believe Brian has 48 hour rates, give him a call to confirm and I am sure he can hook you up somewhere for a better price.
I concur with Lefty. If you're outside the Snowbird window, calling Brian should help with rates.

I was also going to suggest calling Brian ( phone number on top of home page) and ask if he still can do 48 gour rates ( call 2 days in advance(

Thanks for the update and 99% of this group will not crush you for your views, might ask why but that is all. Occasionally you will get that one person that wants to argue with you, what you said is right it might be over priced. When i played it the tee box, fairways and greens where great but fringes where not at all. I am hoping this year i will report a course that is good all around but that doesn't mean it is worth the cost. I don't complain because I only come down once a year and right now my daughter is picking the courses. LOL. I would like to say again thanks for your report it is great to get all people's views of this course.

No problem with hearing anyone’s opinion brattenj. Everyone will have their own favourites and it would be a boring world if we all had the same course as our favourite. My group finds Caledonia dull and overpriced and wouldn’t make our MB top 10 which I know is a minority view so it’s perfectly acceptable for a course to not do it for everyone.
For what it’s worth Tidewater is one of our MB favourites and for a group coming from the UK encapsulates all the best things about US golf for us - layout, views, atmosphere, clubhouse etc. We’ve played it on every trip apart from the year it was closed.
It’s a course that has had complaints about conditioning many years ago although it’s always been in great condition every time we’ve played it. I think price was a factor as for a while it was the most expensive course open to outside play in MB and if you pay top dollar you expect conditioning to be pristine whenever you play it which isn’t always possible.
Tidewater and Caledonia look to be pretty much like for like price wise currently at just over $200 a round the week we are visiting - that’s still a Benjamin cheaper than we’re paying to play The Dunes that week. Ouch.
Tidewater is easily a top tier course by all measurements, including the high pricing offered by the 'rack rate.' There are deals here which make the argument much easier. For locals and local property owners, you can buy a Tidewater Player's Card for an annual fee then pay $42-$62 each time that you play and your guests can play for an additional $5 fee. Compare this to the Passport rate which can run $85 for the passport holder and an additional $5 for a guest. From my experience, Tidewater has very good conditions; tees and fairways are overseeded, greens tend to be on the quick side during the winter months but they are usually quite smooth. Tidewater can easily boast some of the most picturesque holes on the Strand, especially #13 with a view of the Little River Inlet to the ocean. Like any course, there can be some 'knocks;' #3 green is too severe as it has sunk from its original design, #8 struggles with some conditioning around the green due to the marshside location, and no doubt the superintendent could point out some additional challenges on other holes. I play Tidewater quite a bit so I am familiar with the layout and conditioning. The experience here is top shelf. Practice balls are included with your greens fee. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. For me it's #3 behind The Dunes Club and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.

@dch1950 I guess that’s why there are so many courses. I’ve had the privilege of playing courses all over the country. Tidewater is a good course. Just not a $165 one in my opinion.
I will verify the good service from the staff & mgmt. After our last trip, I got on their website & clicked " contact us" to let them know we love the course, but thought they'd like to know we came away with a bad taste in our mouths due to it Taking close to SIX hours to play 18 holes. Not bitchy, but just a friendly FYI about their problem (that day)
To my surprise I got a reply within a couple hours from the GM of golf operations. Exchanged a couple e mails then a phone call and was a very positive exchange. We talked quite a while & he seemed genuinely interested to hear about Tidewater from the customer's point of view & asked what they could do better. Told me to look him up next time we're there, & I will but God knows when.
All in all it was a very positive experience.. sorta like when you have Brian book your trip.????
Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obscured by the occasional miracle.
@skippy ... Skippy, I played TW one time and I was in the clubhouse post round looking at their straw sun hats. The guy behind the counter asked if I liked them . I replied yes I love them. He told me to grab one -no charge.
They were pretty expensive too.
