Played it today. My advice is to stay away and see what the new owner does with it.
We got out 25 minutes late because they did not have enough carts. Most of the greens were bumpy with rough areas. In portions of the rough, the grass was nonexistent, leaving you to hit off hard pan. It’s a shame because the layout is nice.
No beverage cart, and the bar/restaurant was closed. The beer selection in the pro shop was just Budweiser.
I had thought about trying Byrd or Jones, but not after today.
ST Maples has had a problem where the bent greens are
invaded by fairway bermuda. I haven't played there in
10 years, so I wonder if the greens are more fairway grass
than bent.
There was an article saying Byrd + Maples will be
renovated this summer.
Thanks.

I understand your deception. Maybe they are waiting for the renovation of this summer.

Thanks @bobla1 for reporting once again!
That said, despite the fact your experience wasn't the one you expected at Maples, it seems that the Jones course is in its best shape since a long time!

Over the years of our winter stay we find the Maples to be the poorest in terms of conditioning, to bad as there are a few very nice holes, #9 comes to mind right off the bat.
Played Jones today. Course in good shape, greens just medium with good coverage, However with all the construction at the convention center and plowing under of the driving range getting to certain holes where a challenge and the look of a few holes on the back nine look different with a lot of tree removal. heard the they will renovate Byrd this summer
Thanks for the update. Hopefully, Maples will be better soon. I did play there two times last year and it was in decent shape.
