Played the Maples Course at Sea trail today to complete the threesome of very nice courses.  The day was sunny and maybe a 1/2 club wind, temps in the 60's.  Our POP was 3 1/2 hours.

Maples is the easiest of the 3 Sea Trail has to offer, again my opinion, greens are very small compared to other MB area courses and they are undulated in places that will give you fits.  Overall the wall to wall over seed is decent, all Par 4 and 5's not the Par 3 fairways.  First 2 greens are still being worked on to get rid of unwanted weedy type grass, the rest of the greens were great to putt and maybe a 9.5  for speed, maybe quicker on some, ball held well.  Tee areas are good with holes 2 and 3 needing some leveling off on the white tees.  Fairways gave us a bit of run but not a lot, ball sat up okay with no need to to roll the ball.  Roughs are fairly even in height and with the over seed no trouble hitting out o them.   Traps have had or are having sand added to them so hitting out was no problem.

Right now all 3 Sea Trail course are good to play and our price of 35 per course was a bargain for what we got.  Last played here on April 1/19 with UGP and today it was 100% better.  We will get back for sure.

Good to hear Lefty - love the pics. Maples was a disaster last year - let's tee it up there this winter.

Thanks for the report Lefty.  Great to see Sea Trail with three good reports recently.  Maples and Jones go back & forth between my favorite course at Sea Trail but all three are good.  Hope greens 1 & 2 heal up!

I like the green color on your pictures LeftyGar. The overseeding seems very decent. This alligator seems to appreciate his environment.

I am not surprised of the conditions of the greens on the first two holes of the Maples course. The first hole is elevated and exposed to the wind. The second hole, the par 3, is surrounded by high trees. This reduce the exposure to the sun for this green.

Maples is a close second to the Byrd course in my book. So i like to play there.

Thanks for all your reports concerning Sea Trail.

Thanks for your Maples update.

Any news if they will convert the bent greens to a hybrid like Byrd + Jones?

Art, only spoke with the bag drop guys, they said right now they are trying to get the old greens under control before any change over is done.  From what we played on yesterday they are winning.  They have lots of water for the hot summer months to keep the greens in good shape.

Thanks Gary for this update!

ST Maples will be on my bucket list (played ST Jones way too long ago and ST Byrd two years ago).

Keep up your great work!

Thanks for the report. Nice to hear these courses are improving and providing a nice package at the mid tier level. Maybe time for a visit to these courses after 15-20 years

@coastal-guy

Gators were out also one chilly morning at Oyster Bay, surprised when I saw him eyeing us in the water off of 1 green.
