Quick update on Grande Dunes

Thanks for the quick update. It seems that a lot of golf courses do not overseed their greens this winter. 

Always enjoyed Grande Dunes.  Making the turn to the Intercoastal holes was always memorable.  

You're right - a lot more courses are not over seeding this winter. I noticed that the high end courses - Dunes, Surf, Wachesaw Private don't over seed, but due to the quality of their Bermuda grass, they stay very smooth during the winter months - they don't get choppy from the play of that day. If your greens are not perfect going into the winter and you don't over seed, they will not have a smooth putting surface, a good over seed will hide the imperfections. The over seeded greens at Kings North putt almost as good as Dunes (but not quite!). At my course in Texas, we over seeded greens and tees, there was too much slope not to in the winter, putts would not stop rolling until they got to the fringe.

I don't mind playing on painted greens. However, trueness of putting is very important. The cost of seed, water and maintenance for some courses and private clubs is leading to rethinking the process of overseeding.

What kind of paint is used ?

The golf business should have never started calling it Paint.  
It's more like a Dye.   I don't know what it's called.  
  
Lower traffic courses can be more successful without overseeding greens.   
I think some high volume courses tried dye, then went back to overseeding greens.
