Good evening all

I have been informed that Bald Head has planned aerification for the 28-31 May , during this time only 9 holes will be open at a time . They are punching the greens and fairways .

This has scuppered our plans to play there that week .

As we are staying in Wilmington before heading to Myrtle Beach , can anyone recommend a decent course in that area  ? we already have Cape Fear booked .

Thank you

Rivers Edge + Carolina National shouldn't be much more than a half hour
from Wilmington.    RE is the most unique.

Almost across from Cape Fear is Magnolia Greens and it's sister course Compass Pointe
is about 5 miles up Rt 140 from LeLand.

Wilmington has several courses, but I haven't played them.

Played Magnolia Greens years ago. I remember it being pretty decent. Also, for a decent value the Oak Island course is pretty neat to play.

Lockwood Folly has tigh fairways and many doglegs.  Better bring your A game.

Played LF about 30 years ago and enjoyed the course. Probably weren't many homes on the course back then. As to tight and dog legs - that's my style!

In addition to all of the others mentioned 2 others to consider in Wilmington are Masonboro and Wilmington Municipal , which is a Donald Ross design. I enjoyed the layouts at both of these though the conditions might not be as good as Myrtle Beach.

Let us know where you are going to be playing. Rivers Edge is the best in my opinion - if you've never played it. Might check their aerification schedule - lots of courses will be aerofying around then
