Coming down next wkend for a quick visit. Staying OIB. Gonna squeeze in one round. The Pearl and Sea Trail are close and near family we are visiting. Which of the two is recommended and which 18. I note the ST Jones just finished maintenance on 7/1. Thanks in advance.
I have heard that The Pearl is getting good reports.
It's best most scenic nines are West to East.
ST Byrd + Maples are renovated over the last 2 years, with Byrd done first.
I have heard good reports on Leopards Chase, with some saying best condition
at Big Cats. Thistle is also very good.
I have not seen these courses recently and you need to check for aeration.

The Thistle never disappoints.
I played Leopard's Chase, Thistle, Tidewater, and Sea Trail Byrd over the past week.
Leopard's Chase is not very good (definitely would not go back under the current conditions), although I'm sure it's the best of the Big Cats. The greens are pretty good, albeit not fully healed from aeration, but the tees and fairways barely have grass. You're basically hitting off dirt for large portions of the course. Sea Trail Byrd was similar, although I think it was in better shape with more grass than Leopard's Chase.
Thistle is not great either (certainly not at its usual standard), but better than Byrd and LC. Greens are okay although bumpy in places, but the fairways and tees are very patchy.
There are significant drought conditions which I think is mostly to blame, but Tidewater is still in fantastic shape without the issues they have at ST Byrd, Thistle, and LC.
Some courses are getting normal reports, while others probably with limited
water supplies are dried up, saving water for the greens.
Maybe Tidewater gets water from the waterway.

Just wondering why Leopard Chase is in this condition presently. I played this course one time two years ago, in March. I had a great experience. The design of the course was impressive, particularly the bunkers.

MB is in a drought right now. Since the Big Cats went down hill, it has appeared
that their worst reports happen during dry periods and challenging weather periods.

@artmbgolf the ICW is brackish at Tidewater, the do not utilize it as an irrigation water source.
