We played Oak Island on Monday. Great little layout with a wide variety of holes. Long, short, several dog legs left, several dog legs right. The greens were VERY fast and true. There is no over-seed so the lies in the fairway will be tight. If you have a chance to play this classic George Cobb design, don't miss it.
We played River's Edge on Tuesday. The greens were smooth but a tad slower than Oak Island. It took us a couple of holes to adjust. The course is in good shape, and you have to like the design. If you are hitting your driver straight, it is not overly difficult. IF you are hitting it crooked, YIKES! Bring lots of golf balls.
Yesterday we played Crow Creek. Wall to wall over seed. Bent greens that are in very nice condition at this time of year. The green speeds were not super fast but well above average. I played with my brother in law and two golfers from the Bloomsburg University golf team. None of them has seen the course before and the all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is now on my winter must play list every time I have visitors in town.
Commuter between North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Rivers Edge and Crow Creek are two of my favorite MB courses. Thanks for the report.
I played Oak Island and liked it. The drive to get there is similar to driving
to the Bald Head ferry.
Thanks for your reports!

Thanks for the report.
Thanks for your report, good to read you enjoyed Crow creek, a nicely maintained course.
Really looking forward to Crow Creek, no sure how we could have gone this long without playing it.
Oak Island is somewhat similar to Surf - same designer, Very nice layout, worth the drive. River's edge is in my top 5. And Crow Creek is a solid track usually in good shape
Golf is just an excuse to drink whiskey and smoke cigars
Thanks for the update and nice to hear about oak Island. It is nice to read good things about it and something i will add to my wish list.
