Buddy of mine played there today and said they are having issues with their greens. Some dirt patches on some of them and Number 14 is just about totally gone. Hate to see this.

That course is usually in pristine condition.  It can be pretty difficult if you play the wrong tees.  Sorry to hear about the greens problem.

I heard that the Super from Farmstead who moved over to sister
course Meadowlands, has moved to Grande Dunes.

It would be interesting to know if ML aerated, is losing the overseed early,
or if they sprayed the greens with the wrong stuff??

Art I saw that they don’t have tarps to cover the greens. Someone was speculating that the cold weather got them.

Sorry to learn those bad news. Hoping the greens will recover.

Update as of 4/3. holes 8 ,9,10 have issues in front part  of each green and hole 14 whole green very thin. And there are minor issues on a few others. BUT the conditions have improved in the last couple of days, need more rain and sunshine.

What is the ML greens story?    Some initially said a few greens were bad.

It is winter kill from the couple cold days or a chemical error?

The good super from Farmstead, who moved to ML when FS closed, has moved to Grande Dunes.

All I heard from my group of 30+ years was that they gave rain checks to the entire group due to the greens having mor sand than grass.

More from my group on Meadowlands:  They have more issues than that. The starter told me that they thought it might have been an issue with fertilizer. Also said they recently lost their superindent to Grande Dunes.

This story shows again the importance of a good superintendent for a golf course.

Played today, 04/29, nearly all greens have issues; some far worse than others. Fairways, tees, bunkers & roughs were all good. This is going to take some time to improve. Very bumpy in the patchy areas.

Our group played at Meadowlands on April 19th. When I checked in at the clubhouse we were told the greens weren’t up to their usual standards and given a rain check for the whole group which they are clearly doing as standard at the moment.

There are bare patches affecting a lot of the greens but they were rolled very flat and in most cases seemed to have been coloured so along with sensible pin positions away from the affected areas they weren’t that obvious or really in play. The four greens that I noted as being worst were 3, 10, 11 and 14 where most of the green had been impacted.

We played 36 holes so we returned our carts to the cart barn when finishing our second round and spoke to the guy there briefly who wasn’t clear if the problem had been caused by the wrong chemicals/fertiliser being used or the poor winter growing conditions - doubt it would just be the latter given the excellent conditions we experienced at some other courses.

I wouldn’t really recommend changing from Meadowlands unless you have a very fussy group. Even the worst affected greens putted fine and we felt it was more a cosmetic issue than anything else. Meadowlands was our warm up round and given its pricing and the way they were completely up front about the issue and provided a rain check as standard I think most groups will be fine with that. I’m not an expert in the agronomy side of things but think it will take a while to get the greens back to the standard we experienced in 2023 though.
