My wife and I left Brownwood on June 7 we drove to Win Star for my wife's fix on the slots. From there we drove to Shreveport for the on Saturday. Sunday we stopped in Conyers Ga. for the night. Monday we headed the finial  stop to Myrtle Beach. We drove a total on 3335 miles to return home.

Now for some golf!!!!

Monday afternoon I met up with UCP, Steve and Mike at a course in Florence called Traces. Course was in pretty good shape the fairway had nice cover greens were slow you had to really hit your putts. I would play this course again if I had to opportunity. UCP and I lost our bets cause we did not make but 2 birdies. I shot 75 UCP 74 Mike 77 and Steve 78.

Tuesday June 11 I played Arrowhead Lakes and Waterway with 2 locals my wife road with me all but 2 days. She does not play but enjoys watching. Arrowhead as many of you no this course is in great shape greens at a better speed. Shot 76 with a triple played the white tees. I have too mention UCP and I have the same Birthday June 11 we are now 73 UCP says want be too long we can shoot our age!!! pace of play 4 1/4 hours.

Wednesday June 12 I drove down and played Caledonia this is the first time to play here that it was not raining. Course was in great shape. That is what is expected here. Played with three great guys that was  a group of 15 firefighters. I played the Mallard tees this course play's long than the yardage. I normally play around this yardage at home. Did not play well today but had a great time with this group. I bogeyed all the par 5's ha had a double for a 80. Pace of play 4 1/2.

Thursday June 13 Went to Grande Dunes Resort played as a threesome. Two guys were nice players lots of fun. This course to me is a must play great shape from tees to green. Green had a nice speed. having said that you need to make sure you hit plenty of club to these large greens. Played the white tees at 6277 played well today shot 76. For some reason i had issues with par five's this week bogeyed 2 of them. Pace was 4 1/4.

Friday June 14 Went up north and played Leopard Chase . Played as a single the 2 guys were running late and then decided to hit balls on the range. The course has a great layout I was very pleased with the conditions. Playing as a single is not much fun to me. What I saw the other courses look good from the drive. Tigers Eye was aerification the greens.

Saturday June 15 Played Burning Ridge have not played here in several years. Met up with UCP, Phil and Terry from Long Bay. Funny Story sometimes it really is a small world. Terry's mother and father lives in the same town as we do. She is in a nursing home here. My wife is going to visit with her in the next week or so to give her the news we met her son. As I said before the par five's were bogeys again shot 81 UCP 75 Phil 82 Terry 84.

Sunday June 16 I was back at Burning Ridge play with a two some Greg and Mack I fell to mention the course was very playable. I played my best round shot 73 8 strokes better from the day before. played the par 5's today1 under did have 3 birdies in a row. Pace of play was good 4 hours.

Monday June 17 Tidewater what can I say great views everywhere . Played with two young guys from Boston they could really move the ball. Course was in good shape fairways very good tees good greens rolled with good pace. A couple of the greens were thin on the edges. Over all it is a must play for me  pace was 4 1/2, I played the white and green tees shot 81 not bad had a double and triple. We started on the back I do like to start on the front. Starter was really nice great guy.

Tuesday June 18 Kings North is closed to players I was invited to play with Steve that works there and Mike. We played the back 9 twice. They have really torn up the front lots of heavy equipment every where. Course was ok Tees thin in places fairways good greens where thin in places but a fun course to play Played good for me shot 76 with bogeying the last two holes. Steve is a very good player long  and hits it hi. I played the whites 6024 the played Gold Steve shot 74 Mike 77. Pace was great since we were only one's on the course 3 1/2.

Wednesday June 19 Myrtlewood Palmetto played with a man from Chicago and a father and son from Boston. The son had on been playing for couple years. They were very nice to play with it was pretty windy the course was very busy. They had a large group that was playing a scramble. The course was in nice shape I had played here 3 or 4 years ago. Ken from Chicago was a pretty good player. Greens were a little slow for me my local course has bent grass greens that run around 11 plus. Shot 75 today played golf tees. Pace was good considering how busy they were. 4 1/2.

Thursday June 20 Last Day Arcadian Shores had another nice group to play with. One man was from Charlotte and two locals. I played this course several years ago. It is a friendly course to play overall condition good no complaints pace was 4 1/2. Plaid the white tees shot 75. Was a great 10 days of golf met some new people all very good to play with and some of my best friends.

A big thanks to Brian who got me some great deals. There was no issues in my wife riding at any of the course. This is the first for me playing as a single. We have a time share at Harbour Lights which makes it easy to get any where. I have stated in the past I first came to Myrtle Beach in 2000. Thank goodness for highway 31. It is hard to believe how much building that has been done. i went to the PGA store one morning  their was hardly anyone was there. The wife and I went two nights to the Alabama Theater and couple night to the Carolina Opera very enjoyable shows. We ate where ever we were close to nothing special.

Well we made it home Saturday and need to do some yard work after being gone for 2 weeks.

You played good consistent golf and had good pairings.

I find that pairing up with strangers in MB, visitor or local,
has better odds than pairing up with strangers on home courses.

Your KN review makes it sound like they are not touching the
back nine.   The renovation article made it sound like maybe all
greens would be renovated this summer, but back 9 changes
would be next year.

Thanks for your report.

A very interesting report. I really enjoyed to read this one. You played high level golf with UGP and others during your trip. Your scoring indicate you are able to play your age some day. Just be careful on the par 5s. It  seems, as Art said, they will work only the first nine holes at Kings North. Thanks for the report!

@artmbgolf Art I was told the greens on the back nine will be done next year. They had more to do than expected on the course. They were doing some Buckheads on the back nine.

Great read Coach.

I felt like I was in MB  .

Good to hear you are still playing good golf.

I have no idea how I outscored you at Wizzard a few years back.

Hopefully we can do a rematch,  but it looks like I'll need a couple strokes and looks like a few from  UCP , Mercy !

Great list of courses, very admirable
