Back at Sea Trail-Maples with LeftyGar for a morning round. Conditions were:
Tees - OK. It would be nice if they were a little flatter in spots.
Fairways - Decent to good. Some roll. Easy to find a good lie for playing winter rules.
Rough - Dormant. Thin in spots. Not very penal. Nice contrast of pale yellow with the deep green fairways. Some bare areas/sandy areas, especially near the trees. More or less the same as two weeks ago.
Greens - Good. They were punched some time ago but that did not cause a problem. Probably an 8 or slightly higher in spots on the Stimp. Good coverage. A little better than two weeks ago.
Bunkers - Better than two weeks ago. They were raking them while we were out on the course. I was in a few of them and the sand was nice to hit out of.
Cart Paths - OK to rough. Not Oyster Bay bad, but some exciting moments.
If you find a good rate (Passport Rates are reasonable), Sea Trail-Maples is a thumbs up. If you're looking for pristine conditions, you will not find them. Lousy greens are my pet peeve. They were good, so no complaints.
Pace of Play moved along well. If memory serves me correctly, it was around 4 hours.
Hope to get out again next week with LeftGar for another round.
Good to see you and Lefty shootin a few rounds.
Some year soon I hope to join you in late winter/early spring.
Thanks for reporting
