We have a Golf Galaxy.  It's a nice store for the biggest OEM brands, but I don't think
it carries anything PGA Superstore doesn't have.

I have a GG in my town.

I find it very expensive, and rarely buy anything from their.

I will go there soon to get gripped, and occasionally buy shoes from the clearance rack, but otherwise everything is FULL price.

Don't even bother looking at clothing.

I found many more affordable items @PGA.

One positive thing about Golf Galaxy though is I went there asking about getting fitted for irons and the gentleman told me it was $100 to get fitted but if you end up buying the clubs the $100 goes into the price of the clubs.

So,basically you get your $100 back (or you don't pay for the fitting).

Fitting=$100

Clubs=$500

Total out of pocket=$500

Which is a great deal compared to all these new club fitting stores that are opening up.

Most of these stores want $150 for the fitting.... and you do not get that money back if you buy the clubs.

Clubs =$500

Fitting=$150

Total out of pocket=$650

FYI

Golf Galaxy is owned by Dick's  Another big box store might bring down prices a little and increase trade values. I prefer to root around the independents - but they don't have the electronic hitting machines I find valuable and fun.

 When Golf Dimensions closed and Martin's was bought out by PGA Superstore there was a lack of competition in MB.  The Superstore basically had a monopoly and their rates are pretty high.  Hopefully the addition of Golf Galaxy will bring back some competitive pricing.

The golf stores are usually forced to sell current year OEM at a set price.
Any deals are on closeouts of the previous season stuff.

Golf Galaxy has a couple house brands: Tommy Armour (clubs) +
Walter Hagen (Clothes).

GolfSmith Extreme at Coastal Grand went out of business, but I think that was due
to the entire Golfsmith company folding.

I've got both a GG and a PGA Superstore within a few miles of me.  Pricing is comparable.  IMO, Golf Galaxy tends to do a little deeper discounting on clothing, while the PGA Superstore has a larger clearance section.

I do see GG discount coupons in the mail on a regular basis.

We have a Golf Galaxy up in Buffalo, we go over now and then , a decent store to browse in.  PGA Store here in MB needs the competition as well.

Construction has begun on new Golf Galaxy at Coastal Grand mall. Looks to be an addition to the existing Dick's.

Golf Galaxy will bring some competition to the PGA Superstore (2 stores). In October 2016, Dick's Sporting Goods- the parent company of Golf Galaxy- purchased Golfsmith at bankruptcy auction, acquiring all the Golfsmith's inventory. Dick's Sporting Goods has 2 stores in the area plus this Golf Galaxy store. The plan is that Dick’s Sporting Goods at Coastal Grand will relocate to a new building near Dillard’s, which will include the addition of Golf Galaxy. Flip N Fly will then open a 53,000-square-foot family entertainment venue in the former DICK’S Sporting Goods location. Is it too much competition for Myrtle Beach? I have always think that Golf Dimension and Golfsmith have been shut down because of this heavy competion. That it was too much stores for all the residents and the visitors coming in Myrtle Beach. With the time, we will know.
