My close friend, and superintendent at my course in Waco - is the new super at Long Bay. This man has over 40 years experience growing the grass as several different courses, most recently many years in Orlando. Look for excellent conditions after LB opens back up in August.

He has some challenges ahead of him, let's hope he can work his magic there.

Every course he has gone to has improved. His last course in Orlando was very sad to see him leave. His wife wanted to move to Myrtle Beach to be near her parents otherwise he would have retired there. LB has the largest budget he has worked with. He is a hands on Super so this will be a little different for him and easier as he ain't getting any younger

I'm really looking forward to getting back to Long Bay. Has been getting a bad rap lately. I've always enjoyed my time there.
Sidenote : First time I ever played there... on the way out of the property I heard the OJ Simpson jury decision.
Where were you when you heard it ?

It will be good to have another course that we can count on for good
conditions at Long Bay.
I heard that Litchfield lost their greens about the same way as
Long Bay. LF still has the old bermuda greens, so time for an
upgrade, although I have not heard anything about a upgrade.

The only time I played Litchfield (10 years ago when we stayed in Garden City) it was in better shape than Founders and River Club and I liked the layout better than the other two. That's probaby an unpopular opinion but that's what I saw.
I'd like to try all 3 again sometime.
On the same trip I played Caledonia (nice) and Heritage (loved the greens)

All I did was contact the head of agronomy for founders and put them in touch. My friend did the rest.I'm sure you did not pull any strings to help out your buddy , lol.
