Angels Trace closed in 2006. This course was expected to be turned into the fifth course at Ocean Ridge Plantation, and though nine holes were designed and cleared, the course was never fully built.
Someone remember what happened to this course in 2006? Was it a question of rentability, the presence of too many courses in Myrtle Beach... Just curious to know what was the reason for to close Angels Trace at that time.
''It's just golf, let's have fun''
Ocean Ridge bought Angels Trace, which had 36 holes.
As you posted, they started building Jaguar's Lair, which would
use some holes from the AT course, plus add housing.
I don't know why AT sold out. AT had 2 popular courses.
Maybe it was just a good offer from Ocean Ridge.
Maybe stopping the JL development was the beginning of
Ocean Ridge's decline?

Jaguar's Lair was basically finished -- I'm not sure if they ever grassed the greens, but the course was built, including landscaping. The fairways were grown in.
You could see a couple of holes from the nearby road and other than the greens being covered it looked perfect and ready for play. It was bizarre that they never opened it after spending all that money constructing it.
