Well Mr Cassel's is up there in age and his family didn't have the interest he had in the course. They're concerntrating on the family business SouthEastern Freightlines (largest privately held trucking company in the SouthEast) and have sold Tidewater Golf Club to Kemper Sports. As I hear more, i'll be happy to let you guys know ...

I found this on Kemper Sports website.
It doesn't say anything about any changes.

I have never seen it in bad shape. One of my favorite courses.

I played Tidewater on 10/27/23, conditions were very good.  The course had undergone some extra treatment for The Mentor's Cup held on 10/28.  Green speed was typical, fairway condition was tight and with the current dry conditions, they were running nicely.  Staff was prompt and courteous.  Overall, Tidewater was up to the usual experience.  I am a Player Card Member so I play there quite often.

@hogan13 why would you spread a false rumor without checking it out before you post? We played TW in the spring and it was fantastic.  Check your sources.  The last time they had bad greens the owner issued us $100.00 gift cards and apologized, personally to us.

The course is in good shape, please remember that they aerify their greens in early and mid summer then overseed in the Fall. If someone played it within 10 days of aerification, or overseeding, that might be the case. Aerification was done moths ago and i'm not sure if they have laid seed or not. I played it 7 times this Summer/Fall in various events or with customers. The course has been in good shape. Of course, if I have a critical eye, I can pick any course apart. I do know there needs to be a higher level of conditioning for courses that are charging more than $200 compared to the courses that are charing $120. If somene said it wasn't in good shape, they may have been referering to the condition for a high end course. There is that expectation level when you pay $200 versus $125 or so not only for the layout but for the conditions.

Brian, hasn’t Tidewater been thru a few national management companies in the past? I recall they were managed by Troon at one time in the past and maybe another before that?

Unlike most - not a big fan of Tidewater. Played it with JW in October - good condition

This is spot on.

@w082828   I suggest you READ my post before you go off half cocked. I did not spread a rumor as you suggest. I asked if anyone had played it recently and stated that I had HEARD it was in bad shape. A forum is to gain information which is what I was looking for. Your attack shows a lack of reading comprehension and is unwarranted.
