Greens are great - not as good as Surf Club, but pretty close. Rolled a sold 10. Not over seeded. Would have been smoother if the groups in front of us knew how to pick up their feet! We fixed a lot of scrape marks on every green. Rest of the course is in good shape - over seed coming in good - surprisingly we were off the path on all but three holes despite a good rain two days ago.
From the proper tees this is a tough but somewhat fair test of golf. A solid tier 2 with an argument for tier 1.

Thanks UGP for this other report!
It's almost impossible not to love a course like Prestwick, even if it can make you eat your lunch! 😉

I'm somewhat surprised about your opinion of this Dye course Undercover .
I've heard you say some not-so-good-things about his other courses.
I guess I have to scratch this one off of my to-do-list.
Thanks for your take.

Dye courses must be played from the proper tee, then they're playable for the most part. Prestwick is better than most other Dye courses I've played - but it still has plenty of unfair s..t on it.

Thanks for the update even though we know your not a fan UGP.
that is one of my favorite courses anywhere.
Let the Big Dawg Bark!!!
I certainly agree with UGP about playing the right set of tees. This course is very difficult and from the wrong tees would be close to impossible. That being said it was in great shape when we played it in October and I would not hesitate to play it again. If this is on your bucket list don't miss it.

For the average mid handicap what tee would you recommend there?
Okaying the proper tees, exp. this time of year when the over seeding has the fairways soft and you get no roll, add the sea level thing and the wrong tees played will make for a very tough day.
Prestwick is a great golf course but it is always a challenge to score at this place. Thanks for the update.

For the average mid handicap what tee would you recommend there?
Senior tees - from the whites it can play long - and the par 3's are awesome but brutal. It also depends on how far you hit the ball.

Totally agree with that. It's one of my favorites. Although I will say it is frustrating when you pull an approach shot a little left on the hole with the railroad ties and it bounces down the hill a 100 yards away.
Prestwick white tees are 6347 slope 131
Green/SR are 5863 slope 121.
Unless long and lower Hdc, Green is best.
Many greens are all carry to get on. If the hole is short, the green is small and
protected.
