I played Lions Paw today with a nice sunshine, 20 Celsius, and no wind. As Brian said already, the Big Cats has turned the corner since 2023. Overall, it was a very pleasant surprise, the conditions were very good.  The starter made a terrific job. He is certainly one of the best i have seen. I played alone, the other golfer scheduled with me do not come for his starting time. I had 2 forsomes in front. I expected a long day, but after the first nine holes, these two forsomes let me go ahead and i have been able to play at a good speed for the rest of my round. They asked us to play 90 degrees, i wonder why because i have not found any wet areas on the course. I played from the hybrid tees, meaning 9 holes from the white tees and 9 holes from the yellow tees. For a very respectable 6001 yards, total. Lions Paw has 4 par 5s, 4 par 3s, others are par 4s, so it is a very playable golf course (rating and slope for the hybrid tees is 69.2 and 126). A very challenging course for this distance. However I played well and i was very satisfied of my round of golf.

As i mentionned, the conditions were very good. The greens are the best i played since my arrival. They give you a very good roll, and they have a good speed. The ball stay on the line when you make putts.  Fairways were over seeded and grass is not thin,so the ball can be adressed with enoug grass under for the approach shots.

With the Passport, you can play Lions Paw for 32$ taxes and fees included. At this price, you receive a very good value for your dollars. I will certainly play course again during my stay in Myrtle Beach.

We have played Lions Paw a few times, each game the course has been getting better, and if we get some prolonged warmth the grass will begin to thicken, if that happens and all the Big Cat courses will be getting busier IMO.  Most of our games their have been 4 hours or less.

Do you think the greens are overseeded or not?
If not, they could be dyed.
If overseeded, they look more like they are growing and tend
to get slower during the day, since it's faster growing than the
hybrid greens.

Thanks for your report.

@artmbgolf

I am not an expert. It seems to me the greens are dyed because of their bright color. They have a very good speed.
