First off I would like to thanks Brian for his help as always with all my trips. This years we had 12 players 3 new players one from Kansas City the rest from Texas. I first can to Myrle Beach in 2000 I believe this was my 22 trip to MB. Many have been with groups from 4 to 16 the other have been with my wife as a single.

For the first time we stayed on the beach at the Grand Atlantic we had two 4 bedrooms 3 bathroom. Great location to everything like PGA store, airport, Broadway at the beach, and restaurants. we had 10 players flew in while my son and I drove. We left Brownwood on Thursday at 830 am and drove to Augusta for the night, Then on to MB Friday which we made it with no issues. I might add it is a 19 hour drive while the others flew. Seven nights 6 rounds with one more for my son and I.

On Friday my son Daryl and I played Burning Ridge we played with a local couple very enjoyable. Course was in decent shape made for a good warmup. Later on that afternoon went to PGA store been looking for a 5 wood found a Taylor Made used but in great shape for $119. We then got a room at the courtyard for the night. The rest flew in Saturday afternoon around 4 then we checked in and got settled in for the week.

Sunday we were at Arrowhead course was it's usual shape no complaints greens were slower than we where use to. Pass of play was around 41/2 hours. We had four of the older guys played the white tees and the rest played blue on all the courses.

Monday we were at Heritage as everyone knows this is a great course but it can play long. The new guys were very pleased. Course conditions no issues it is one of my favorites. Great Breakfast and lunch with the round we started on 10. Pace of play was around 41/2 hour had a group in front that was slow.

Tuesday we were at The Grande Dunes Resort one of the best courses in MB. The conditions were the best all week. Tees, fairways. greens were perfect grass everywhere was thick and healthy green. Great driving range new balls. practice area is the best. Could play this course everyday. Pace of play around 4 hours..

Wednesday we were at True Blue as of the other courses in fine shape. Some of the guys had never played courses with trans fairways. Tees areas were thin in places no big deal.

Thursday we were at Prestwick a course i had only played once. It is a tuff course if you not a good driver of the ball. It has some good par 3's.

Friday was our last day at Caledonia course was in great shape from tee areas to fairways and greens. Bummer we started on 10 but no big deal. Only rain all week was on the drive to course it really rained hard. we we arrived they said only holes cart path only were 1 and 18. It only sprinkled on a couple holes. Had my best score of the week 75.

It was a great week for me had two my son playing. We played a 3 man 2 ball match each day for 5 dollars per man. Payed 15 dollar per man and 5 per man for second. I had picked the best 4 players and then changed the other players on every team each day. We played a triple high score to keep things moving. Some of us did play a 10 dollar Nassau.

As far as restaurants we ate at Senior Frog as a group on Thursday night. The rest 6 of each group went there on way. My group went to Landry Seafood, Texas Roadhouse, Red Robin, Cracker Barrel and at some of the course.

That's all I can remembers of now any question just ask.

I will be back to MB June 8th for 10 days with my wife. I well be hooking up with my friend Greg the Under cover pro to celebrate our 75 birthday!!

Thank you for the golf trip report! I really appreciate you taking the time to write it up in such detail.Sounds like another outstanding Myrtle Beach trip. 22 trips since 2000 is impressive — that’s serious dedication to the Grand Strand! Staying right on the beach at the Grand Atlantic with those big 4-bedroom condos was a great call. Perfect location for everything you need. The course lineup looked strong:

  • Loved hearing Grande Dunes was in peak condition — that place is always a highlight when it’s firing on all cylinders.
  • Heritage continuing to be one of your favorites makes sense; it’s a classic.
  • Caledonia giving you your low round of the week (75!) is a perfect way to finish. Nice work!

It was smart rotating the teams in the 3-man, 2-ball game and mixing in the Nassau side bets — keeps everyone engaged without slowing things down. And getting your son out there with you for the full week (plus the extra round) must have made it extra special. The mix of flyers and the father-son road trip adds a nice touch too. 19 hours is no joke — respect for making that drive twice.Congrats on another successful outing with the group, and safe travels back down there in June for the 10-day trip with your wife. Celebrating 75 should be a very memorable trip. If you get a chance, I’d love to hear how the June trip goes too. Thanks again for sharing all the details — these reports are great to read. Keep swinging well!

Grande Dunes was great during my recent trip also.

What does this mean?
"Some of the guys had never played courses with trans fairways."

Thanks for a great report!
