Set to close on September 30th when the lease expires. Surveyors were on the course recently. It's a shame because Possum Trot was always very busy whenever I stopped by to hit balls or say hi to Master clubmaker Al Cloyd.

Sad to see courses Close. It is a dog eat dog world and they are wearing Milk bone Undies.
Let the Big Dawg Bark!!!
Not good news. Used their practice facility many times. Nice layout and good customer service.
It is a shame, but it appears that it is true. More information about Possum Trot and Azalea here: https://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/golf/article224280115.html
''It's just golf, let's have fun''
Possum Trot was the first course I ever played in MB back in 2012 so I have a soft spot for it. Thankfully played Heather Glen that year as well. Will have to play Indian Wells before it disappears too. Always sad when a course goes.
Sad news! 🙁
Had great memories of PT, since I saw my wife made a HIO on hole #13 a few years ago!

It's sad when a popular/busy course closes, but the owners want to cash in, just like
Heather Glen, with some of the same owners.
Although a busy course, PT would be in need of modern greens if it were to continue
and a high %% of rounds there are probably at Passport/local rates.

Bummer. I like this course. It is fun to play.
Damn.
This is on my bucket list and looks like I won't get to play it ...unless, of course , I plan an emergency golf trip to MB.

My wife and I had a condo at the entrance to Possum Trot for 20 yrs..lot of good memories..great practice area.
Seeing Possum Trot close will be a sorry sight. Going back to the 1980's, our group of families would travel to MB each spring and rent a condo at Windy Hill for some family fun. The guys would all buy a 3 day pass at Possum Trot; it was easily accessible from our condo, the price was right and we typically had tee times which fit the family's expectations. Possum Trot was always fun, the conditions were consistent, some really nice holes, wide fairways, and you could score as forced carries were not abundant. By today's standards, it needs an update which is probably too expensive based on the possible returns from golf. The passing of Possum Trot will be a significant milepost.

We stayed in that area a lot on family vacations. Dad and I would always go to Possum Trot and Beachwood. Followed up with some Painters Ice Cream. Good days!
... and family restaurant outing to The Outrigger!!! Loved that place.
