Thoughts on staying in the Barefoot villas, but only playing two courses, preferably the Dye course being one of them.
My group has the potential to grow to quite a large number, so Barefoot make sense in that I do not have to worry about finding a house or houses to accommodate everyone.
We typically play four courses and I am thinking Dye and one other Barefoot (does not matter which), Tidewater, and maybe a mid course like Arcadian Shores.
We would get the benefit of the facilities, but able to branch out.
I went on the website and I am not sure I can pick my courses if I am only playing there twice.
Thanks for any advice.
I have not stayed at BF, but a number of forum members like the
BF Yacht Club condos. If you want a house, Brian now at Elliott
is good with houses.
The courses you list are good. BF has a play 3 get 1 free package, if
you are interested in that.
You can definitely pick which BF courses you want and you don't have
to play all 4 with that package.
If only playing 2 at BF, pick from Dye, Fazio, Love.

@rspeck77 I agree. I know a lot of people love the Love course, but I don't really get it -- I think it has some mediocre/funky holes and the faux ruins are bizarre. I think Dye/Fazio are both much better, and I think the Norman is a better design, it's just brought down by the really bad condo encroachment on some holes.
Dye and Fazio. You will like them.

@polekat914 Yeah, I think it's still a solid golf course. It just has a handful of holes where the condos are right on top of you -- I remember one par 3 that's essentially surrounded by them; it almost feels like you're playing in the courtyard of a complex.
I think the other thing that hurts the Norman for me personally is that it's pretty similar to The Reserve (also designed by Norman), just not as good (nor are the conditions as good). Since I generally play The Reserve while I'm down, it makes Barefoot Norman easy to skip.
Played the Dye course 3 times and thought it was very over rated.
Do they still have that large outdoor bar there?
Do they still have that large outdoor bar there?
BF Resort clubhouse still has the outdoor bar, which has some food
like burgers.

My group has stayed at the BF Yacht Club villas numerous times. Units are big, usually well-maintained, and close to everything. We've also played all the BF courses. I favor Love, Dye and Norman. Unlike most folks, I'm not a fan of the Fazio course. One note - the Love and Norman courses do not return to the clubhouse at the turn, if that's important to your guys.
I have played 3 of the 4 courses. I liked in order Dye, Love then Norman. I am hoping soon in will play the Fazio course. Never stayed at the resort so no comment on them.

@rugbygolf : BF Yacht Club Villas is a wonderful lodging option. Went there numerous time over the years and was never disappointed.
As for the two courses to play at Barefoot, I would personnally opt for Fazio and Dye, even if I also like Love and Norman a lot!

Thanks again for all the responses. This forum has been a wealth of knowledge over the years and I find myself looking over old trip reports during the cold Northeast months for a fix.
Funny it seems like everyone has a bit of a different opinion on which course to play. Regardless, I think the plan is to play two there and venture outside to another central/north myrtle course. Arcadian Shores, Glen Dornach, Tidewater, Myrtlewood, Leopards Chase are all on the table. Would have loved to get back to Farmstead one more time.
