I was blown away - having played AS several months ago, I was expecting horrible conditions. Now color me pleasantly surprised. While you'll never mistake AS for the Dunes, or Kings North, the new owners have started turning the course around. There was good grass on the fairways (greener than the last 6 courses I played) the roughs had pretty good grass too. Greens had been aerofied and were not great (lost the practice putting green and the first green) but I saw a good amount of grass on the greens. Staff went out of their way to explain the improvements going on as the new owners work to make this an acceptable course. It's not a bad layout, has a few very tight holes  and good par 3's.

That said, AS in good condition will not knock your socks off. In about 30 days it will be a good starting or ending course for those that want something a little easier on their game.

The new operators are the same people that took over Eagles Nest (I believe). It's definitely a work in progress that's going in the right direction. Glad to see it not turn into housing yet!

Interesting. AS could be a good warm-up course for the next trip.

At Eagles Nest, I have read that younger members of the Elliott family inherited it about
5-6 years ago and have the interest in improving it.   Now the recent article makes it sound
like EN management is managing AS.

Fertilizer, water and summer makes that bermuda grass go.

Thanks!

Don't mistake my report as we should all rush out to play AS. It's still a tier 5 course - but the improvements being made might move it up a little.

Yes. Do not rush to play AS. But we will follow the improvements.
