I have never played AH when their greens were slow - until today. Normally very quick, I peg them at 8 to 8.5 today. Don't know why - they rolled fine - maybe they didn't mow them - grass is now growing in MB. Overall, course is in good shape, well taken care of. Love the layout, fits my game - calls for a lot of placement shots. If it's in your package, you'll enjoy it.

Don't need to be long - but you do need to be able to put the ball where you need to. Today were some of the toughest pins I've seen in playing AH. Was shocked at how slow the greens were - they are usually very quick. Perhaps I'll be able to join your group at AH. Less than  3 months and you'll be here!

It's transition time.   Maybe they let them grow a day or two without mowing, to
stimulate them or something.

Sounds about right Art.

You know your grass.

I've  played AH 3 times and nothing but quick speeds and smooth rolls for me.

People tend to forget that a golf course is a living breathing eco system that no matter how much money you pour into it will have bad days. Augusta can not be kept in Masters condition year round (they close after the Masters). Now imagine you have a normal golf course budget and run 50,000 rounds of people beating on you grass every year - AND NOT FIXING THEIR BALL MARKS! My hat is off to the courses that maintain playable surfaces - not easy or cheap fighting bugs, diseases, and mother nature.

Thanks once again for your input UGP!

Arrowhead should be on anybody's bucket list! Played there maybe 8-10 times and I never get tired of that course.

UGP you are so correct, people dont think about that at all. I know my good friend that owns a course near me can be very critical about his own course. He does a great job but has a ton of rounds and not everyone things about pitching in to keep it beautiful. He has a few deficiencies like his bunkers, i also tell people take the time to rake then when they are in them, in his defense last year was so wet hard to keep them light and fluffy.

I told him if you had unlimited or millions for course up keep you could do a lot but do some every year and it will be nice.

Lefty - there are great holes on all three nines - I like Cypress the best -and it's good to start on Cypress and have a breakfast ball in reserve!
