I haven't played Arcadian Shores in many years.  Has anyone played it recently?  In your opinion, how are the current conditions?

Played Arcadian Shores again the other day, fairways in good shape, tee area and traps all good, some thin spots in the rough but nothing to bitch about.  Some pin placement are difficult if on the wrong side of a mound on the greens, other then that greens speed is very good.  Might CPO for a couple of days after yesterdays rains.

@leftygar1

Just wondering if the driving range is very busy at Arcadian Shores presently. It is a place where i like to go when i am in Myrtle Beach. I was going also to Possum Trot, but it is probably close now.

Arcadian Shores has long been one of my favorites.  I usually play it several times each fall and winter.  The renovations done a few years ago were timely and well done.  I always find the greens to be in terrific as the Sunday strain is one of the very best grasses.  It's the one Rees Jones design along the Grand Strand that endures.

The driving range at Arcadian Shores has been quiet so far this year. 5 bucks for about 40 balls, so not to bad.  Chipping and putting on the practice green is also good to get rid of the winters rust.

I got down to Arcadian Shores yesterday.  I think the last time I played there was in the late 1970's.  The course was in pretty good "winter" shape.  The greens were fast enough, but not super fast.  Because of the medium speed they were extremely grainy.  The over seed was a little inconsistent in the fairways, but in their defense, there was some rain and it appeared that they were not able to mow for a couple of days.  The maintenance crews were out with blowers cleaning up downed leaves and branches.  There was hardly anyone on the course, so it was a leisurely round.  The layout is fine and somewhat exacting for an old guy like me who does not high the ball very high anymore.  There are a lot of face bunkers to carry to hit the greens.  I will put it on my list of courses to play in the future.
