Greetings!

Weather: sunny on the first 15 holes with a magnificient 83 degrees.

On this magnificent Wednesday, May 7, we had the privilege of Rivers Edge, in Shalotte, approximately 50 minutes from downtown Myrtle Beach, a course that changed hands in September 2023 and which will give you a “customer experience” that sincerely deserves to be duplicated elsewhere!

Extremely welcoming staff, ultra-comfortable carts (almost Lazy Boys) with integrated GPS (a first since the start of our 2025 stay), a renovated club house where we can have excellent food, in short, people and first-class facilities!

We have played more than a dozen rounds at this course and rest assured there will be more! A simply spectacular course that, if it were closer to the central portion of Myrtle Beach, who could possibly be in the Top 5 courses in the region.

Following our visit today, we can confirm that Rivers Edge is in excellent condition, although the dry weather of the past few weeks has meant that all the golf courses here are in dire need of water. From A to Z, there was really nothing to complain about regarding the playing conditions. The greens were in excellent shape and their speed was a little slower than the day before at King's North.

We played Rivers Edge from the white tees at 5,759 yards and as for the ladies tee, the tees were at 4,525 yards. See scorecard at https://course.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/course/course/riversedgeus/detailedscorecard.htm .

That said, the last four holes of the course can definitely be considered the best quartet of finishing holes in the whole Myrtle Beach area! Nice mix of holes along the marsh and other more "traditional". You'll also love holes #5 and #8, two par threes of 115 yards and 163 yards from the white markers (59 yards and 118 yards for ladies), where the view is also spectacular.

A quick note on the "signature hole", namely #9, a diabolical par 5 which is played 494 yards from the white markers and 415 yards for the ladies with a long, but excessively narrow green, which can be reached in two shots… which is however quite a feat if you want our humble opinion. And even if you play it safe and work to get it in three, you might not get the result you hoped for, the entrance being so intimidating, which makes the challenge very interesting, regardless of the strategy chosen!

In any case, if you have ever played Rivers Edge, you can testify just like us that this place is quite special. And for those who have not yet had the chance to go to Shalotte, treat yourself to this challenge without hesitation!

Next round on Friday May 9 at Grande Dunes!

Very nice pictures. A very impressive golf course. I do not recognise the clubhouse at all. Is it a new one or they have renovated?

Thanks for your reports. They are now at the same level of quality to those of Art. Sorry for that Art.

Good report on Rivers Edge a course that always keeps you on your toes.  Hole 9 is the one you think about all day, 2nd shot has to be precise to find the proper spot in the landing area.  Enjoy Grande Dunes.

After played RE twice last week, I was thinking that a high % of
say double digit Hdc golfers are losing 2 balls on that hole and
some low handicapers also.

With the wind right to left and the green sloping right to left,
even low handicaps are going to hit the green and roll left into
the water.    Plus the drop area is now around 160 yards.

Thanks!
