Hello everybody!

Earlier this PM, we were in action at Prestwick and the following two little words will say it all: simply WOW! From the tee boxes to the greens… sublime playing conditions! Not to mention the “customer experience” component, both on arrival and after your round, which is of impeccable quality!

And frankly, that's exactly what we want you to experience when you’ll have the privilege of playing (or replaying, depending on) this course, which is located very close to Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Before we go any further, know that when you set foot on a course signed by both Pete and P.B. Dye, be assured from the start that you'll get what you pay for and that the challenge will meet your expectations, or even more.

Prestwick is a par 72 course which is played at 6347 yards from the white tees and 5210 yards from the ladies. Which leads us to strongly suggest you check your golf watch or range finder and better yet, consider buying the playbook, especially if you're on your first round there. It will probably be the best "investment" for you, if only to prevent, rather than cure!

Besides the “surprises” we refer to, what about the greens? Real "pool tables"! In fact, one word comes to mind: diabolical! And that's the least we can say, among other things because of their speed, but above all because they are difficult to read correctly. You believe your putt is straight… and your ball curves subtly left or right. Conversely, do you think there is a curve to give to your putt? Hmm… and no, it was the straight line that should be preferred.

On the other hand, the design of the course is really attractive and, quite frankly, no hole is boring. And as a bonus, holes #9 (a par 5) and #18 (a par 4) offer a breathtaking view of the clubhouse. Same thing from the terrace of the clubhouse, where you can appreciate the “prowess” of other golfers trying to get away with these two holes.

All this to say that Prestwick is perhaps not the course that people talk about the most, and yet... it deserves to be better known... and recognized! And in our own mind, Prestwick is definitely in our own Top 10 in the greater Myrtle Beach area!

We do HIGHLY recommend it!

Next course on our agenda: Tiger's Eye, this Friday, May 6!

Sadly a course we missed this winter.  Your pics and course description are spot, 18 solid holes and not one gimme among them.  Good luck at Tigers Eye.

Another great report Denis. Was it your first play at Prestwick?

Also, was the sand reinstated along the rightside of 18 fairway? Some recent posts on their FB page show it but I don't know if the pics are old.

Thanks.

@say8pet : To tell you the truth, can't really tell, because both my wife and I took the left side to reach the green and my second shot did land on top of a mound. Sorry! 🙁

Hey Denis,  thanks for the updates, 1 of my MB fave courses.

Looks like all the work replacing the greens bulkheads on 9, 18 & 1 of the par 3's is all done.  They were still working on them when I was there in Feb.   9 had a temp green at the time.
