8 of us will arrive MB on Tuesday April 19th.  We are coming from Ohio, West Virginia, Georgia and Florida.  We are staying in an 8 bedroom condo.

Here is our schedule:

Barefoot - Love

The Thistle

Meadowlands

Glen Dornach

True Blue (sub for Caledonia)

Grand Dunes

We will dine at Sea Merchants, Cianti South, Parsons Table, Clarks, Pizza (In) and on the docks somewhere.

Since we are old and down to only 18 per day, I will probably have time to report during next week.

A very solid line up of some nice MB area courses, enjoy your experience.  Tony's Pizza in Calabash is decent, we had several good pies there.

With that kind of a golf agenda, you’ll have a great MB golf trip for sure!

Enjoy!

We decided long ago if we were going to play golf in MB we should play the top tier courses every year.  And, eat at top tier food venue's.  We also decided that each player should have their own bedroom.

1st three days in the books.

Day 1 Barefoot Love - course conditions good.  Tees, fairways and greens super good.  Bunkers are a mess.  Water and mud mostly.  Tough conditions, chilly and windy made for many high scores in our group.  Our 9 handicapper shot 97!  But, everyone really enjoyed the course.  POP was right at 4 hours.

Pizza at Bonita’s.

Day 2 The Thistle - course conditions were good.  Plenty of grass all over.  Roughs were thin but playable.  Bunkers had no rakes so they were full of footprints.  Our guys loved the layout.  POP was 5 hours and 1/2.  Really slow by our private club standards. Weather was special, 72 and sunny although we did see 3 clouds all day.

Lundinn (Lunch and Dinner early). Was at Captain Nancy’s in Calabash.  Good seafood in a relaxed environment.

Day 3 Meadowlands - course conditions  were good.  I don’t remember this course having the number of houses it had and that detracted from the experience.  Conditions were good.  Fastest greens so far.  POP was 4 and 15 which wasn’t too bad but the group in front of us should have been playing the red tees.  We waited a lot and not a Marshall to be seen.  I think this course goes to the ‘mid-tier’ list for our group.

‘’Weather was great again, 74 and sunny, no clouds today!

Dinner at Sea Merchants for like the 35th time.  We have never had a bad meal there and Tanya did an excellent job handling our group.  I had the grouper parm and it was excellent.

Day 4 today is at Glen Dornach.

Day 4 - Glen Dornach

Tees a little rough.  Fairways and greens top notch.  Rough and 2nd cut rough with tight lies.  Weather was great again.  POP right at 4.15.  Greens were probably about a 9.

Dinner at Chantal South.  Great food and lots of it.   Portion size was extraordinary.  Service was top notch.

Day 5 - True Blue.  Everything was great except the scoring.  Weather was perfect again.  Tees, greens and fairways were perfect.  It is time for our group to move up from the whites.  Cart paths are showing their age.

Service was very good.

Dinner tonight at Clark’s. Tomorrow is our last round at Grand Dunes, then dinner as usual at Chestnut Hill.  Then Tuesday we head home to Florida and play the weekend in our Senior Club Championship.

Thank you for the great reports.

I had grouper parm at Sea Merchant's a couple times. Very good.

I also recommend moving up to the senior tees.

My opinion...if you're a senior.... Paying senior rates, playing senior shafts...you should probably be playing senior tees.

Good to see the weather cooperated.

If we are hitting an extra club in MB, we are also losing a club or 2 off our
driver length.   That adds up to around a 400 yard longer course than the card says.

Thanks for your report!

Day 6 - Grande Dunes - Fairways, tees, and greens top notch.  POPwas slow due to a 3-so e in front probably never played golf.  Ranger said they we busy when we asked about the group in front of us.  A w-some should never play slower than a 4-some.  Once again the areas outside the first cut were really just hard pan.

Dinner at Chestnut Hill was excelent as usual.

We left MB for Florida at 7 this morning and arrived at 4:30.  We went a new route to avoid Jacksonville and Orlando.  Orlando is a real mess to get through now.

We set up next years trip and the courses we want to play.  So, 39th or 40th year in 12 months.  Great weather this year, no rain, and mid 70’s each day.

Food and service was excellent at every dining venue.

A special trip for our 3 new guys.

@w082828 : It's such a pleasure to read, even after 38 years, that you still appreciate such a MB golf trip!

Thanks for sharing!
