I played TE.  It was ill advised from various reports, but I had a raincheck to use and TE may never
get back to what it once was.     Any pkg golfers paying the package rate would be disappointed.

The greens were watered and had healthy grass, just not maintained will things like rolling, verticut
or top dressing like they need to be smooth.   The speed was about 7-8 stimp.    There are lots of small dirt
spots, as many as when aerated, but it's not aeration, probably ants or worms.    Fairways were mostly brown,
from not watering.  I played with 3 members, who said the owner has no $$ and saves some $ by not
watering and not needing to cut it.     Oddly the bunkers were good, raked edged and weed wacked.
Usually when a course goes downhill, the bunkers get ignored/abandoned.

They also are not watering the fairways on the other courses.   I recommend forgetting about
any Big Cats at package rates, until further notice.   You will be embaressed bring your group there.

Thanks for the heads-up Art. It's sad to see 4 good courses in that kind of shape. If I were a member/homeowner, I would furious.

Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obscured by the occasional miracle.

That makes me sick I loved playing those courses back in early 2000. What a shame I would hate to have bought a nice home there with those conditions.

Our group stopped playing there two years ago for all the reasons stated by Art.  Homeowners must really be upset.

It seems like the downslide is still going on there, wich is really too bad!

Thanks for reporting Art and have a nice stay!

Thanks for the report Art, all 4 Cat Courses were disappointing this past winter.  Look forward to all your reports.

Unfortunately, that has been "par for the course" for the cats for some time now.  The last good experience for me at a Cat Course was at Leopard's Chase a few years ago.  It was after a heavy rainstorm.  The greens didn't look good, but they rolled fine and the course was in decent shape.  Let's hope something changes.

Throwing my 2 cents in - I also think it's a shame - Leopards Chase is a tier one layout and tier 5 condition when I last played it.

The members I played with said Thistle is the popular choice for Ocean Ridge residents
to join, if they change memberships.

I checked #18 green at Lions Paw and saw it was good.

I checked 3 greens on Leopards Chase, 2 very good and one with brown spots around the outside,
but good in the middle.       These are bent greens.   JW11 and I are playing there.  Still not watering
the fairways there either.    The lakes were full, so it's not out of water.

Prestwick on Friday 10/4 was perfect.  No drought there on tees, fairways or greens.

Thanks for the update Art....  what a shame because at one time you could always count on playing Tigers Eye and you knew the conditions would be great. My group has played Tigers Eye 4 times.... the first 2 times were excellent... the 3rd time was 4 years ago and i noticed then that things were not up to the usual standards.... the last time was 2 years ago and things were not good....it had the brown spots on the greens that you mentioned...and overall the course definitely needed some TLC!!

I have to agree with you and I am also very sorry to hear about that.

I have been coming to MB for about 20 years now with groups to golf in October.

Tigers Eye was one of my favorite courses and layouts. How the mighty have fallen.

I will be there next week and am scheduled to play TE on Sunday afternoon.

This was always one of the top must play courses for many years. I have searched this site before to get reviews and updated conditions on the courses in MB . I am a newbie and this is one of my first postings on this site.

I appreciate all the input and honesty regarding the course conditions as it was very hard to find that on any other sites.

I will be down there for about 2 weeks playing 36 holes almost every day.

I will be glad to post my course reviews for other golfers who might be interested.
