Hi all!

Weather conditions: mainly cloudy, 79 degrees Farenheit

We had a date today at Long Bay ( https://www.facebook.com/LongBay and https://www.longbaygolfclub.com/) , a “creature” designed by Jack Nicklaus whose greens were completely renovated just a few months ago! Except that about those greens, how can we say it... there is still a lot of room for improvement, because at least two thirds of those showed signs of poor conditions, more precisely the surroundings in addition to being the slowest since the start of our stay,

As the two members of this club who were our playing companions suggested to us, we would need a lot more sun and less rain to allow these famous greens to live up to the reputation of this wonderful place.

We called that a "creature" because it's a golf course that will absolutely test all your skills and where there are no boring holes! Moreover, at this time of the year, besides the greens, the conditions were quite good. Same thing for the way we were welcomed by the staff, eager to please you, very laid back, happy to see us (or see us again, whatsoever… it was our seventh visit up there) and with a sense of humor that we enjoyed.

Long Bay is a course that can be considered quite permissive ... for your tee shots. Then, things can get tough, specially for your second or third shots, when it's time to aim for the greens. Then, it can become almost diabolical, with the numerous sand traps always "well" placed, as well as mounds that surround many of these greens. It is during these moments that you will have to master the art of short approach shots, otherwise, there will be no salvation.

Another word about the greens, one of the main characteristics of Long Bay is that they are both shallow and have a lot of undulations, a situation that will favor golfers whose ball trajectory is very high and that are capable of making the ball bite when landing.

But all in all, Long Bay is a great golfing experience and the more you play Jack Nicklaus courses, the more you can enjoy them and improve your scores.

However, to conclude, we suggest you wait at least until next fall to plan a round at this location and, preferably, check with Brian, just to have an informed opinion beforehand!

I have read complaints about the new Long Bay greens since
they reopened, but no explanations what happened.

Over the years I have played most of the new greens in MB in
the fall they were completed and most were excellent already
in October and usually no bare spots.

Thanks for your reports.

Good report on LB Denis, the greens will come along eventually.  LOL on the " Creature " many have used different terms, mine would be diabolically tricky.

For some reason I've shot some of my best rounds in MB at Long Bay.

I love the layout. Hopefully those greens don't take too long to mend. I'm sure course owners are not too happy.

Thanks for all the great reports Denis. Seems like you've been in MB for months.

Great to see you've had good golf & beach weather !!
