East is the single tee course with crowned greens.  It starts after passing the parking lot.

Another thought is that they will have loads of sod to take from the closed holes, if they
want to improve any bare areas on the open holes.

The closed holes are on the outer edge of the property. Holes 6 and 9 were two faves with water on approach shots. FWIW; starting with two par 5's sandwiching par 3's, 2nd and current 12th, will create bottle necks right off the bat with guys needlessly waiting for par 5 greens to clear from over 250 out and no one waving people up on par 3's any more. At least they're not touching West, the more scenic course by the clubhouse.

"Developers don't seem as interesting in the NC land as they do in the more developed central MB."  They are interested, the issue is the lack of infrastructure in Brunswick County.

I loved playing Pearl West a few years ago...glad that's not being interrupted, although I haven't played East, so I can't comment on that one.

Sadly, this 3 nine-hole routing is becoming more common; it happened here locally where a course shed 9 holes, but largely because of repeated flooding. So the land was sold off not for development, but for flood mitigation.

I didn't know Odell Williamson was still around.

Me either.  Do you think it could be his son?

I have played the Pearl Courses on a few occasions in the past few years. I could see that they had some promise to them. I figured that they were older courses that didn't have the $$$ or financial backing to keep up and were falling on hard times. I'm happy to see them looking to improve upon what they have there instead of selling out to developers and/or closing down. My thoughts are that if you have a good or great product, then people will come there. When I am in Myrtle Beach, I will travel north to play River's Edge because I like the course and it is worth it to me to travel the extra distance to play there.

I wish them luck and hope that they can put together something that golfers will appreciate and enjoy. With some fresh plans and money ...it could be a success story.

If Ocean Ridge Plantation could make a comeback with all of their courses, that area would have enough good courses to make it worthwhile to stay and play there.

My group stayed at Crow Creek condos one year, however we didn't even play the Crow Creek course as we  had our list of favorites to play ...and Crow  Creek didn't look that interesting to us

Wasn't he the builder and owner of  the closed Ocean Harbour?

Yes, the Williamson family built Ocean Harbor a good golf course but several holes were built on leased land which eventually caused it's closure.  Brick Landing has the same issue and is looking at closing again.

Everyone who played Ocean Harbour liked it.  After it waas open for a few years, the
bent greens went bad.  Besides summer heat, there was too much shade.

OH closed before Devaun Park was built and about the same time Marsh Harbour was
closed.   Odell's daughter didn't want to run them.    I also heard that OH had a 99 year
lease and at least initially Devaun Park built around the leased OH holes.
