Have some guests coming in next week and trying to decide between which of these 2 to take them to.  I have played both numerous times over past 25 years so like both of them.

looking more for advice if anyone has played it recently to give me update on conditions.  read that thistle replacing cameron greens, so that 9 closed?

my info says prestwick was supposed to aerate mid july 14-18 so guessing that has filled in by now?

any update greatly appreciated.

Yes, one of the nines at Thistle is closed.

Thistle was in fantastic shape about a month ago, so I assume it still is. I don't know about the conditions at Prestwick because I haven't played there in a couple of years, but it's of course a good golf course, although it's certainly harder than Thistle.

If they're not very good, they may have more fun at Thistle (although there is a lot of water in play). Otherwise, I'd probably just pick whichever is closer, considering they're pretty far apart.

Thistle is redoing the greens on one nine over the 3 summers.
Cameron this year.   I feel Stewart/Mackay is the most interesting.

Decide by aeration dates and if they would not mind the more
challenging Prestwick.

Now you may have to find a course that drains well.

What are the weather conditions now ?Any flooding ?

I'm a local in the Brunswick County NC side (St James Plantation) - Prestwick by far right now.   Thistle is having lots of work done right now.
