Course in fine condition after all the rain - off the paths but still damp. They take good care of PL. Greens slow as usual - probably 8 - pretty smooth other than all the unrepaired ball marks. I prefer the look of over seeded fairways as the are defined in the winter. - The pic is from #14

Pine Lakes 14

My opinion is that they should lengthen # 3 and #13 to be par 5's and make the course Par 72. (or at least #3)

Not my favorite - but I always enjoy playing PL

The greatest challenge at Pine Lakes are the long par 4s, since there are only two par 5s. This course is very wide open.. If you tend to spray off the tee box this is your course...Not really a matter of importance in your case UGP. Thanks for the report and for sharing.

The courses that overseeded wall to wall might be impressive for Dec-March
golfers, but most visitors playing there then probably didn't pick those courses
for green rough.   The green fairways and brown rough is interesting.

I like that #14 hole, but I don't play it well.

My PL reports usually complain about #3 being are par 4.  It used to be a par 5 and
that was before they added a pond by the green.  They should have expanded the
pond, to stick out in front of half the green and kept it a par 5.

#13 used to be a par 5.  It had trees where there is now a pond on the right.
When cutting the corner on the old course hole, being in the trees meant punch
out near the green.  Now that tee shot is in the pond.  If driving straight out, the
fairways slope left, leaving a 200+ shot to the green.

Many play tee 3 at 6300, because tee 2 says 5756, but as a par 70 it plays long.

Thanks!

In reality PL "plays" over 6000 yds from the senior (#2) tees. Unfortunately #5 from the senior tees is way too short - we usually play it from the #3 tee. As for # 3 - it actually plays longer than it's yardage - took a great drive and 3 wood to make the front third of the green - unfortunately the pin was only a couple stes off the back. I agree with you Art - take the water all the way across, move the tee back 30 yards and it would be a very good par 5

Nice picture UGP, I love the differentiation between the overseed and the dormant rough, having never been down before March I always assumed overseed wasn't peaking till mid March, it appears I made the wrong assumption, would you say that those who overseed it should be somewhere between 60%- 80% grown in by February?

@s333h

Your right there, the Par 4's are long from the regular men's tees.

The overseed can get pretty good by about now, but it keeps getting thicker with time,
until it gets too hot, but then the bermuda is growing.

Some courses overseed thick and some thin just to get some green.
Weather also contributes to a good or bad overseed year.

Thanks Art, I'm thinking Myrtle has had a warmer than usual winter along with plenty of moisture the overseed should be in good shape in another month, anyway that's what I'm hoping for.
