Played Grande Dunes members private course last Thursday. As mentioned a couple of months ago the club (and the rest of Grande Dunes minus the resort course) was purchased from Lstar by a company called Freehold Communities. Over the summer new Bermuda greens were installed on the members course to replace the bent greens, and significant bunker work was done as well.
The new greens putted well. The roll was true but speed was lacking a bit. Since they're young maybe they'll start speeding them up in the fall when the weather is cooler. Interestingly the greens were receptive to full shots but chip shots tended to land hard and roll out more than expected.
Fairways were very soft, much softer than the Dunes & Surf. I had a couple tee shots that got negative roll, LOL. Not sure if they water too much or if the course doesn't drain as well. Otherwise the turf conditions of the fairways was excellent.
The rough was by far the most penal rough I have ever played. We were literally all just hacking out of the rough for the most part and that's if we could find our ball. Bunkers were in excellent condition but didn't really come into play. I'm not sure any of us had bunker shots during the round. Pace of play was great, nobody else on the course we flew through the round. Practice range is among the best on the Grand Strand, and the beverage cart girl has to be the prettiest in all of Myrtle Beach!
Thanks for the scoop 1putt1

To get to the Members club go over the bridge to grande dunes but instead of turning left to go to the resort course continue straight. There's another swing gate where you'll need a code to get through after that turn right for a mile or so to the members club.

There was a article saying the bunkers would be made smaller.
I heard that packagers would be limited, kinda like The Dunes.
It's nice they had a bev cart when it wasn't busy.
Thanks!

Thanks for the report. Unless it was due to not being able to mow, I wonder why any course would make their rough that penal?
Hoping for you that you had time to learned the name of this prettiest beverage cart girl 1putt1 ???? Thanks for your report, it was a very interesting one.

Thanks for the report Bob, as for the negative yardage, sounds like most MB courses in the winter time.
Thanks for the report. Unless it was due to not being able to mow, I wonder why any course would make their rough that penal?
You have to think they have reduced mowing due to CV, fallen behind due to rain
and/or letting it go due to being closed and no carts on the rough for 3 months.
They reduced bunkering to make it more playable and to help with maint, so no
reason to want the rough to be brutal.
