Played at the Big Cats today, Leopards Chase under a brilliant sunshine, beautiful blue skies, temps close to 68 ( 20C ) and a solid one club wind. No CPO and today we got a little roll on tee shots.
We were 2nd group off and our POP was 3 hours even. The course is in better shape then I was expecting, fairways and tees have a good over seed coverage and ball sat up pretty good. Roughs were on the tough side I felt, but not terrible. Greens looked very green and had a few spots that were on the brownish side, they held shots very good, speed was better then average so my guess would be a 9 minimum. Traps were in the process of being groomed, but lots of sand to hit out of. Would have no problem heading back to play LC again as the once terrible greens have improved a lot.
Lefty thanks for the update on this course.

This is a good report on LC and valuable to the new member, who is asking
about the Big Cats. This is prime bent greens time of the year.
When we played Big Cats last Oct and found brown fairways, I was told that
they were conserving water for when they overseeded. At least they did
overseed.
Thanks!

Any positive report about one of the Cats is always welcome!
Thanks Gary!

One of my favorite layouts that isn’t on the waterway. Good that the conditions are better
Golf is just an excuse to drink whiskey and smoke cigars
No problem with conserving water this year, so far we have had rain up to the Ying Yang, 3 more days called for this week.
Good to hear about LC being maintained.
Great pictures Gary.
Appreciate that.

Thanks for the report. You had a great day for playing golf today. It was beautiful outside.
So is Leopards Chase worth the price of admission at this time?
Heading down next week, calling Brian in the next day or two.
Only Cat course I played was Tigers Eye, which was great 11 years ago when I played it.
I would say go for it, yesterday it was better then decent, greens which have always been poor in the past were smooth, just a few brownish spots here and there, but it did not effect the putts whatsoever. A good place to play 36 if you choose another Cat Course. We are playing Tigers Eye next week as well.

If you have access to the Passport or other 48 hour rate, it is worth it, because the
design is excellent, mainly the back 9. You may not feel it's worth it at a $120
package rate, if you have a group to try to impress.

Before JW11, UGP and I played LC in Oct, I emailed with the LC GM and I
checked it in person. He said they hired a new Super. That's good, but the
main issue appears to be if Big Cats Mgmt gives their Supers $ and staff to
work with. I also played TE with some members in Oct, who were not
happy and blaming the owner for condition issues.
The brown spots you see in the bent greens at LC are probably invading
fairway bermuda spots, especially if it looks like thicker dormant blades.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate as always. Think I have almost figured out, will post tomorrow to get opinions (and call Brian to set up after that).
Great report. Thanks for sharing!

Art, I think you are right about the small brownish spots on the greens, your description makes sense. We are thinking of Tigers Eye next week. Guys in our Condo played it and said it was pretty good.
