Played KN again with Quevy from the gold tees, long into a gusty wind. The black tees were not put out on the course (THANK YOU FOR THAT!) Several pics for Art of the work around 12 and 13 and one of a very friendly squirrel. And second shot on 18 which played very long into the wind! Only could get a hot dog from the restaurant. They are working on getting rid of the over seed - greens were excellent.

That extra room on the #12 Island Green will save a few strokes/balls
and speed up play a bit, with fewer water balls.

The black + grey squirrels usually don't beg for or steal food, usually
just the bigger tan fox squirrels.

Thanks for the update photos!

Forgot to mention that all three courses were sold out of tee times in the morning, looked like quite a bit of play in the afternoon. Single tee all day.

I played Kings Borth today (guess I should have had this on my spelling quiz, LOL). Many thanks to Quevy.

Course is in fantastic shape!! Fairways excellent, got lots of roll nothing even close to a mud ball. Greens were good speed and rolled true. Rangers out on the course were very friendly thanking us for playing. Pace of play was 3:05 teeing off at noon. Highly recommend.

I'm guessing a squirrel took my Nature Valley nut bars (unopened) but surprisingly they left my chocolate chip cookies alone!

The first time I played this course about 12 years ago when I got to the gambler hole (#6) I decided to go for it since it was a meaningless practice round. Played the black tee back then but it was downwind. I hit a good tee shot and an excellent 7-wood from about 195-200 then sunk the 15 foot eagle putt. I swore then it would be the last time I tried that because it requires TWO gambles to pull it off and figured in the long run it wasn't worth it. Fast forward to today I was -1 after five holes and spur of the moment I decided to go for it again since I was feeling good about my swing and it was downwind again. Well I hit the drive good but my line was just a bit to the right of center and it went through the fairway by the 2nd bridge. Then I dropped one and came up short of the green in the water. In the end it was a triple-bogey 8 ruining a potentially good round. And mark these words ... that WAS THE LAST TIME I EVER GO FOR THE GAMBLER AGAIN !!!

But it's so much fun when it works. As a shorter hitter, it's usually easier for me to hit the island fairway even if I can't reach the green in two. The squirrels are very aggressive at Borth - keep your food in your bag. My peanuts are in a plastic jar - not getting into there. And the course really is in excellent shape - because of Quevy i go there often. Great day except for the very strong wind.

Nice to read you enjoyed KN, the Gambler is a fun hole that rewards good shots, not a good hole for poor shots.

A few years ago at a course in Illinois, a squirrel stole a brand new pack of my buddys cigarettes near the 18th green.

My buddy ran after that squirrel and came back a minute later .

My buddy took me to the squirrels stash.

The squirrel had a pretty big pile of snacks (and cigarettes ) about 30 yards into the forest.

"Kings Borth" is the kind of course that never disappoints, as far as I'm concerned!

Thanks for reporting @UGP (and @1putt1 too)

These little guys have no fear - it's why we NEVER feed the alligators!

Sold out now is 350 golfers vs their normal 700 + packed front and back tee times and probably $40 to $60 less per player - BUT, it is good to see.
