Hi all,

I'm planning to stay in Garden City for a week in mid-February and it looks like there are four courses within a short drive that are all new to me:

Blackmoor
International Club
TPC Myrtle Beach
Wachesaw Plantation East

I'm hoping to play at least two of the four and wondering if there any must-plays/must-avoids in the group.  Open to other suggestions in the area that are not a significant drive (<20 minutes).

Thanks in advance for all of the help!

Prestwick is right in your backyard!!  One one the best on the strand.  Play the correct tees

Second above, I'd go with TPC first and then Prestwick, both tough tracks but very fun holes on each course.

On your list, TPC is the best, and the second best course I've played down there. Depending on where you are in Garden City, Caledonia will be right around 20 minutes (my condo is right near the Garden City pier, and I can get there in under 20 minutes). It's worth the extra few minutes drive, generally considered THE must play course in the Myrtle Beach area.

Those two, however, will be the most expensive courses in the area. If budget is a concern, Wachesaw is a good track at a fair price, as is the International Club.

I haven't played either Blackmoor or Prestwick yet (they're the next two to play once we move down), but have heard nothing but great things about both.

If you are looking for closeby must plays, TPC + Prestwick.
Some more not far away must plays:  Caledonia, True Blue, Willbrook.

The other 3 in your list plus Whispering Pines are OK, if you want lower cost.

Like the vast majority already wrote, Prestwick and TCP without a single doubt!

Have fun and don't forget to take time to report!

From your list both TPC and Blackmoor would be good, but as many here are saying Prestwick is a very good course with many memorable holes, great greens and super staff.  Good luck and look forward to your report.

From your List I would definitely play TPC and Blackmoor. Both are fun course to play. TPC is clearly the more difficult of the two.  But I would also join in the suggestion of Prestwick.

TPC and Prestwick should lead your list of places to play in your area.  Blackmoor and Wachesaw East are pretty good as well although wet conditions can cause some consternation.  Caledonia is still close by and it's top shelf.  I've never played Willbrook or The Reserve... always heard good comments about these two locations.  Have fun!

Check with Brian N to see if he can get you on the private Wachesaw Plantation, back 9 there is 1 hole after the next, great looking golf holes.

You may want to also consider Heritage which is part of the Legends group. It's down south by Caledonia and True Blue, very nice layout and conditions and wont hit your wallet as hard if you're looking to save a few bucks.

I'd second this recommendation. A course that is at least one level above Wachesaw East, which is across the road from Wachesaw Plantation. Some of the fastest but truest greens I've ever played.

I hope the weather improves though it's not looking good - predicting possible snow on the 13th and 14th
