Don't have any news links, just stuff I heard from reliable sources ...
1) Cape Fear National will be closed for portions of the summer to renovate their greens. Not sure exactly what this entails, but these are their days/times that they will be closed:
Closings: The course will be closed completely June 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and June 24 through June 30. Additionally, for July and August the course will be closed every Tuesday.
Hours: On all days the course is open tee times will be from 7-11 am except Sunday’s when a full day’s tee times will be available.
2) Azalea Sands new management will be putting in 1 million bucks into improving the golf course. Again, not sure what that exactly will entail.
Thanks for being such a realiable resource Bob!

Thanks for the update and congrats on the hole in one awhile ago Bob.
At Cape Fear, that isn't enough time for new hybrid greens, so they must be heavy
aerating the bent greens or trying to prevent the heat from getting to them.
I saw an article in Sun News about the new Azalea Sands management being Eagle Nest.
It did not say EN bought AS. Maybe the owners see an opportunity for business with a bit
better conditions and less competition with Possum Trot closing in the fall.
I don't see any sign of new greens, which are needed.

Cape Fear National was okay this past winter, not sure what can be done at Azalea Sands, they do need greens, sand traps and grass on the fairways, at least in the winter time.
Thanks for the News!
Let the Big Dawg Bark!!!
Thanks for this information 1putt1. Azalea Sands could be a good replacement for Possum Trot if the owners accept to invest a lot of US dollars.

Not sure a million is enough for Azalea Sands - but spent properly it will help
Golf is just an excuse to drink whiskey and smoke cigars
