Played Oyster Bay in the early AM. Conditions were as follows:
Tees - OK to good
Fairways - Good
Rough - Good. Thick in some spots. A little thin in others.
Greens - They sanded them in the AM and were rolling or cutting (whatever they do after sanding). Most of the greens had good coverage and were rolling pretty well. A few rough spots on some greens but nothing that created a problem. Would say they rolled around 8.5 to 9.
Bunkers - Were an afterthought on most holes. I'm not sure if it was because of the amount of rain we've received lately and/or because none of the rakes are out. Some of the bunkers needed attention.
Cart Paths - Not good.
My group and I were satisfied with the conditions. It's a little rough around the edges in spots but I don't think it should keep anyone away who wants to play it now. We had two groups of 3 and PoP was around 4 hours.
They still offer the breakfast, lunch, & two drinks. The breakfast sandwiches are solid and the cheeseburger after the round was actually really good.
In my opinion, the design is excellent. The holes along the marsh are outstanding, #5, #9, #10, #12 to #18 are great.
Good to hear another positive report on OB.
I've been boycotting , but now I'm starting to get the OB Itch.

Lots of signature holes is why everyone wants OB to be in good condition
to bring others to play it.
Thanks for a popular update!

David, good to read OB was in okay condition, sure wish it was that way in the winter time. as for the traps they have needed TLC for many years now. Hopefully the new Supt. will get them on his to do list. For our guys holes 13 thru 17 makes their day, 16 is one tough cookie, esp. into a wind.
Thanks @polekat914!
A nice read from a course that most of all here in this forum do really appreciate!
